Jewellery inspired by north-eastern tribal fashion New
Delhi: Models walking the ramp in exquisitely designed necklaces, inspired
from tribal culture, formed part of the jewellery show that left the fashion lovers
enchanted here last evening. 'Adi-Kriti', the collection of gold jewellery, captured
the essence of the age-old tribal culture of the eight northeastern states. An
initiative of Jetha Bhai Zaveri, a high-end jewellery store, the jewellery has
been designed following lot of research and ground work. Necklaces designed in
the shape of a bison's head, a dragon adorning another neck piece, flower and
peacock feathers adding an exotic touch to the jewellery, the collection had all
this and much more. The spirit and soul of the deep-rooted tribal society manifested
itself in the wide range of designer ornaments that were showcased. "While studying
the culture, we saw a lot of inspiration in them. We found that the jewellery,
the ornament they wear, has a story behind it. We found it very interesting, so,
we decided to present this story in gold," said Vimal Bhai, a jewellery designer.
Gold craftsmen from Agartala and Kolkata designed this jewellery collection. Traditional
tribal jewellery is made by tribal women using colourful beads, wild seeds, bird
feathers, brass, bones and ivory. -June
