Michelle Obama's inaugural dress to be featured in Manhattan museum New
York: Visitors will soon be able to take a closer look at Michelle Obama's
inauguration dress, as it is set to be featured in a Manhattan museum exhibit.
The Museum of FIT will display the wool-lined, yellow ensemble and other designs
by Isabel Toledo in the exhibit, which ends September 26. "I absolutely adored
my Inauguration Day ensemble designed by Isabel Toledo and I am happy it will
be part of the exhibit so others can appreciate the creativity and craftsmanship
of one of America's great female designers," the New York Daily News quoted the
US First Lady as saying in a statement. Toledo, who has seen her business soar
by as much as 25 per cent since Michelle donned her designs, said she was grateful
to be associated with the 'First Lady of Fashion'. She said: "It's beyond me.
It became a part of history that so many people are affected by. I'm just so proud
to have been a part of that moment." Valerie Steele, director and chief curator
of the Museum at FIT, also emphasised on the importance of the outfit. He said:
"We wanted it very much. We knew that definitely followers of fashion would come
to see Isabel's clothes, but Michelle Obama's inaugural dress is in a category
all its own. That ensemble is part of history." Michelle was recently honoured
by the Council of Fashion Designers of America with a special tribute for her
stylistic contribution to the industry at 'Oscars of the fashion world'. -June
