Colour manufacturers in Jaipur work overtime for Holi

Jaipur: With the festival of colours 'Holi' round the corner, the colour manufacturing units here are working round-the-clock to meet the increasing demand. Blessed with some of the finest marble mines in its vicinity, the easy availability of marble powder used in making colour (gulal), has been behind Jaipur's success in making quality dry colours. "Jaipur is considered as the main hub of gulal as we have an organised production and supply. Our gulal is famous because of its homogeneity and sharpness in appearance," said Rajesh Gupta, a gulal manufacturer. Manufacturers make value additions to their products to suit the preferences of Holi revelers. "Our specialty is that the powder used here has a soft texture. We add scent for fragrance which attracts the people and they relish the feeling when they apply gulal on each other," said Vijay Sethia, another gulal manufacturer. Jaipur has an edge over manufacturers in other states where starch and certain additives are used in making gulal. The colours manufactured here are supplied to various states including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. Holi is a festival of joy, mirth and buoyancy, and is celebrated when both man and nature cast off the winter gloom. Holi heralds the arrival of spring, the season of hope and new beginnings and marks the rekindling of the spirit of life.
