Advani slams Govt in suicide case

New Delhi: With the general elections just round the corner, political parties have started wooing voters and the blame game has also begun. Senior leader of the main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party, LK Advani, on Saturday held The government accountable for the recent incident wherein seven members of a poverty-stricken family tried to commit suicide. Due to financial instability, a couple and their five minor daughters attempted suicide by consuming poison at their residence in West Delhi on Wednesday. The couple is admitted in the hospital wherein their situation is said to be critical. Advani met the five girls who are admitted in a private hospital here and are now out of danger. Expressing deep concern over the incident, he said: "Essentially any government which has been in office for five years, if at the end of five years, this is the situation, then government has to be accountable." As per reports, the family had severe financial problems, as the head of the family was unemployed. Unemployment and five daughters in the family could have forced them to consume poison. The opposition parties hope to raise the matter during the election campaign.
