Slumdog
Millionaire opens to houseful board across India
New Delhi:
Slumdog Millionaire, the internationally acknowledged
film, was released across the country to packed theatres
on Friday. The rags-to-riches story about a boy from the
slum area of Mumbai is attracting huge crowds. All shows
are being booked in advance here. Released in the country
with the name 'Slumdog Crorepati', the movie is shot in
real, gritty locations of Mumbai and is being appreciated
by the people for its 'realistic portrayal' of life. "The
storyline is very good. Movie was so different, so deserving.
It showed the reality actually," said Asha Bajaj, after
watching the movie. Brilliant, deserving and record breaking
were only a few of the epithets used by the Indian audiences
in describing Slumdog Millionaire. Another cine-goer said
that the movie deserved an Oscar. The movie has won ten
Oscar nominations including that for best director, best-adapted
screenplay and best picture. Directed by Danny Boyle,
the movie has already won four Golden Globe awards including
