A museum that showcases Sikh history

Lucknow: Visitors are thronging a museum here that showcases rare photographs on Sikhism. The photographs depict the hardships undertaken by the various Sikh gurus and the `attrocities' committed on them. The pictures elaborate the birth of the Sikh religion and its history. The museum also has some ancient Sikh manuscripts. Those who visited the museum said the photographs helped to better their knowledge about their religion. "We have to see the photographs of our gods. We come to know a lot more about our religion. We also got to know what had happened to our babaji (Guru Nanak, founder of Sikhism). We really feel touched after seeing these photographs," said Jasmeet Kaur, a visitor. Another visitor, Ram Tiwari said that the museum should be developed so that people could become aware of the ssacrifices made by the Sikhs "This is very informative and should be developed and the museum should get more and more pictures We should know more about the Sikh religion. How they sacrificed their lives for the country," he added. Taranji Kaur, the museum's caretaker said that these would remind people to lead a good life. "We have tried to tell people and children who had forgotten the sacrifices made by our gurus and the children were taking to wrong paths. They did not know about their own religion, for which so many sacrifices were made, this makes it so great," she added.
