London: After being named the most 'irritating' star in
movie history, Hollywood hunk Tom Cruise must be breathing a
sigh of relief as he has also been voted as the 'Biggest Movie
Star of All Time' by movie fans. 10,000 fans voted in a poll
for Empire magazine, marking its 200th issue, to name Cruise
ahead of movie legends such as Robert De Niro and Marilyn Monroe.

be confirmed with the release of his upcoming movie 'Mission:
Impossible 3'. "He has also been voted the greatest movie star
in the world, something this year's Mission: Impossible 3 will
no doubt confirm," the BBC quoted him, as saying. 'Indiana Jones'
star Harrison Ford came in third in the poll beating 'The Godfather'
star Al Pacino who came in fifth. The only female star among
the top five was the greatest sex- symbol of all time, Marilyn

Jolie's dad clueless about her wedding plans (Go

London:
Hollywood beauty Angelina Jolie's dad Jon Voight may have
given his approval to her and Brad Pitt's romance, but he has
no idea whether the couple will tie the knot or not. "I don't
know what's going on, but if Brad and Angie are going to make
a life together and care for each other deeply and are happy
together, then I certainly wish them the best," he was quoted
by Femalefirst, as saying. "I have no idea if they will marry
and I'm as interested to find out as anyone else is," he added.
Voight who has had problems with the actress since he went on
a US chat show and spoke of her alleged "serious mental problems",
hopes Angelina and Brad have a happy life together. The 66-year-old
also admitted he hopes Angelina, who has two adopted children,
has her own babies. "I think it's a great thing she's done in
adopting them and she certainly seems to make them happy, but
I think it would be nice, too, if she'd have her own. I don't
know why she hasn't. Maybe she just needs to be with the right
guy," he was quoted by the Daily Mail, as saying.
Pitt's orthopaedic beds for quake victims
arrive in Pak (Go

Islamabad:
The UN refugee agency has handed over the first of the 40
orthopaedic beds donated by Hollywood star Brad Pitt to earthquake
victims at an Islamabad hospital. Pitt had pledged for the 40
orthopaedic beds for quadriplegic patients, when he had accompanied
UNHCR's goodwill ambassador Angelina Jolie to Pakistan after
the October 8 earthquake. Dr Syed Fazle Hadi, executive director
of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad,
received the first of 40 beds from Guenet Guebre-Christos, UNHCR's
representative in Pakistan. The forty beds worth 100,000 dollars
will be donated through UNHCR. A consignment of 10 beds each
will arrive every two weeks at the hospital after twenty days.
Christos expressed the UN's gratefulness to Pitt for supporting
the quake relief effort, reports The News. "We are grateful
to our donor Mr Brad Pitt, for supporting the relief effort,"
said Guebre-Christos. Dr Hadi said that beds would bring comfort
to the injured and facilitate the work of the hospital staff.
"This donation will bring comfort to the injured and facilitate
the work of the dedicated hospital staff of PIMS. It's not easy
to look after quadriplegic patients, who are prone to bed and
pressure sores if they stay in the same position for too long.
But the orthopaedic beds can be tilted from side to side and
moved up and down on electronic hydraulics," he said.
Spielberg wants to bring Poppins back to
silver screen (Go

London:
Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg is reportedly in
talks to bring the beloved nanny Mary Poppins back to the big
screen once again with a new version of the 1964 Julie Andrew-starring
classic musical. Sir Richard Eyre, the director of the London
stage show of Mary Poppins, said that he had been approached
by the 'Jurassic Park' director for a remake of the evergreen
children's classic. "Spielberg wants to make a new film of Mary
Poppins and we've talked about it a lot. It will be hard to
outdo the original but kids love the story and I'm sure that
the remake will be a real success," Femalefirst quoted him,
as saying.
Will
the 'Bond girl curse' strike Naomi Watts? (Go

London:
James Bond bosses were apparently so blown away by actress
Naomi Watts' performance in the blockbuster hit 'King Kong',
that they are offering her the role of Daniel Craig's leading
lady in the upcoming Bond flick 'Casino Royale'. However, the
actress' friends fear that she will turn down the offer because
of the superstition that it will jinx her career. According
to reports, the actress has already received a phone call from
Bond team Eon Productions inviting her to be Russian vixen Vesper
Lynd in the upcoming movie, and they want her to do a screen
test in the New Year. However, Naomi's friends think that she
will turn down the role because of the "Curse of the Bond Girl"
suffered by previous 'Bond' babe, Oscar winning actress Halle
Berry, whose career took a turn for the worse after starring
in 'Die Another Day' in 2002. Berry has failed to land a major
hit since then. According to a source, the reason why famous
actresses were turning down the chance to appear in a Bond flick
was because they did not want to be typecast. "People are worried
about being typecast," The Sun quoted the source, as saying.
The movie's bosses have already hit a brick wall while trying
to sign Angelina Jolie and another Oscar winner Charlize Theron,
who have already rejected the role.
Paris' ploy to monopolize her boyfriend backfires

New
York: Hotel heiress and socialite Paris Hilton has learnt,
to her chagrin, that trying to monopolize her boyfriend, shipping
heir Stavros Niarchos, can land her in court. Brian Quintana,
a friend of Hilton's boyfriend, has served Paris with a lawyer's
"cease and desist" letter, claiming that her bad mouthing him
in Hollywood is "ruining his reputation and interfering with
his business relationships." "We would expect Ms. Hilton to
understand the danger of making false statements against others,"
the note reads. Quintana, a Los Angeles events producer, claims
his feud with Paris heated up during an after-party for the
American Music Awards. "Ms. Nightlife herself ordered security
at Club Privilege to remove all of Niarchos' pals from the club,"
Quintana was quoted by the New York Post, as saying.
Glitter
may face trial for 'sex tourism' (Go

London:
Disgraced singer Gary Glitter may have got a reprieve from
having to face a Vietnamese firing squad over his alleged sexual
abuse of two underage girls, but the singer could now face prosecution
in the UK for his crimes. Under the terms of the Sexual Offences
Act 2003, which was introduced to curb so-called 'sex tourism'
and which allows for suspected paedophiles to be extradited
or prosecuted in Britain for sex crimes committed in other countries,
Glitter could now face prosecution in the UK. The final decision
on whether Glitter is prosecuted in Britain would be taken by
the National Crime Squad. A spokesman for the British Home Office
said that the act allowed them to prosecute a person of child
abuse if there was enough evidence. "Where there's evidence
of anyone committing child sex abuse crimes abroad, our police
can prosecute under the Sexual Offences Act," the Scotsman quoted
him, as saying.

the slammer (Go

Washington:
Two New Jersey men have been arrested in New York for allegedly
trying to sell Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony's stolen wedding
video back to them for 1 million dollars. The 31-year-old ex-conman,
Tito Moses, and retired postal employee Steven Wortman, 40,
were reportedly caught in a police operation, which had the
culprits believe that the stars' representatives were waiting
with the ransom in one of the streets of New York City. "They
were shocked because they thought they were coming for their
payday - and instead, they got the surprise of their lives,"
Ratethemusic quoted Major Case Squad Inspector Michael Hines,
as telling the New York Post. The couple's 2004 wedding tape
was on Anthony's laptop computer, which was stolen along with
the singer's Cadillac, in New Jersey on 30 October (05). Police
received the information about the scam by Access Hollywood,
which got a call from Moses earlier this month, offering to
sell the video in exchange of a hefty price.
