Security tightened in Ayodhya and Faizabad

Ayodhya: The police in Ayodhya have deployed additional forces in sensitive pockets in and around the religious complexes following Saturday's triple blasts in New Delhi. Security officials said a "red alert" was put in the town to check on any untoward incident. "In view of the recent triple blasts that rocked Delhi recently, we have tightened security and deployed additional forces in and around Ayodhya and Faizabad and specially around the Ram Janam Bhoomi Parishad. I am not only hopeful but also sure that Diwali and Eid celebrations will be observed peacefully," said Avinash Chandra, Senior Superintendent of Police, Faizabad. Some of the areas that have been identified as sensitive are the railway station, busy marketplaces and the entry points to the town and the state police have strengthened their vigil at these places. "Terrorists have no religion. And we are not going to get scared with bomb blasts like this. They forget that God is with us and as long as God is there, we do not have to worry," said Santosh Jogi, a priest at a temple. In July early this year, security forces had thwarted an attack on the Babri Masjid/Ram Janmabhoomi complex after five terrorists launched an attack at the disputed site. Security is generally very tight in the area, with the police frisking everyone and checking every piece of baggage that is carried there, even fruits and vegetables. But still officials do not want to take any chances and are extra vigilant.
