candidate arrested while filing nomination
Danapur
(Patna): Ramnanad Yadav, RJD candidate for Danapur constituency
of Patna was on Wednesday, arrested for a 23 year old case
while filing his nomination in Patna. A case against him was
registered in Patna's Kadamkuan police station since 1982
and a Non Bailable warrant was issued against him on March
7, 2005. Yadav was presented before the Fast track court after
his arrest and sent to judicial custody till November 9. According
to Ramanad Yadav's Lawyer, Yadav himself informed the police
about his whereabouts as was wrongly accused of being involved
in a crime he did commit. "He has to file his nomination tomorrow,
he came to know about this case only 20 days earlier. He informed
the administration that the warrant is a part of the conspiracy
against him and he is ready to surrender. After filing his
nomination he the informed police, that they could come and
arrest him. He was arrested after filing his nomination and
will be in judicial custody till November 9," said Santosh
Kumar, Ramanad Yadav's Lawyer. According to the norms laid
by Election Commission, anyone against whom a Non Bailable
warrant has been issued is to be arrested. Ramanad Yadav has
represented the RJD from Danapur constituency in previous
election as well, once in 1995 and then again in 2000.
