First LoC crossing point to open on Monday

Delhi: India has announced that the first of the three
crossing points along the Line of Control (LoC) for quake
relief will be made operational on Monday at Chakan da Bagh
in Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir. The crossing point at Kaman
in Uri and Tithwal in Tangdhar will become operational from
November 9 and 10, respectively. The Ministry of External
Affairs said that relief material for the quake victims will
be sent through these crossing points and people would be
able to to cross the LoC as soon as their names get approved
by both India and Pakistan. A statement by the MEA said that
crossing across the LoC would be permitted on foot due to
the non-availability of or damage to infrastructure at the
crossing points. It further said Indians desirous of using
the crossing points are to collect application forms from
and apply to the Regional Passport Office, Srinagar, the Foreigners'
Regional Registration Office (FRRO) or his representative
in district headquarters of Director (Pakistan) in the External
Affairs Ministry.
