Rupee dips to one year low against dollar

    Mumbai: Amid appreciation of dollar against major currencies of the world, the rupee on Monday opened sharply low and tumbled to a level of one year down against dollar at Rs 45.67/68 level. The rupee today opened sharply weaker at 45.65/45.67 against Thursday closing at 45.28/29 and further extended the losses to 45.69 in the early deals touching a fresh one year low. The dollar continues its appreciation against major currencies of the world as it marked a two-year high against the Japanese yen and touched about 18-month peak against the euro. In the Cross Currency Trade, the rupee was quoted at Rs 80.00/02 per pound sterling, Rs 54.00/03 against euro and Rs 38.76/79 for 100 Japanese Yen.
