Maoist leader killed in encounter in Chhattisgarh
Raipur:
A Maoist zonal commander has been killed in an encounter
with the police in Chhattisgarh's Sarguja region. "After an
hour-long gunfight late last night with police in the jungles
of Gautampur, the militant, Shyam Bihari alias Devid, was
killed," said, A N Upadhyaya, Inspector-General of Police
of the Sarguja Range. Bihari was operating in Jharkhand and
Chhattisgarh and was also a prominent leader of the banned
Peoples' War Group (PWG). He had several cases pending against
him and the state government had announced awards of Rs 1.5
lakh and Rs 25,000 respectively on his head.
