Kerala pacer S Sreesanth in team for Lanka series

     Mohali: The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday announced a 15-member team for the first two matches of the seven-match one-day series against Sri Lanka at home beginning October 25. The team has one new face in Kerala fast bowler S Sreesanth, who an impressive performance in the recently concluded Challenger Series here. The 15-man squad also includes Rudra Pratap Singh, the 19-year-old left-arm seamer, and Delhi opener Gautam Gambhir. However, there was no room for VVS Laxman, Anil Kumble, Ashish Nehra and Zaheer Khan, while Sourav Ganguly and Mohammad Kaif were left out due to injuries. Chief selector Kiran More told reporters that the doors were not closed for senior players like Laxman and Zaheer Khan. More reiterated that youngsters were given a chance keeping in mind the World Cup 2007. The first one-day match will be played on October 25 at Nagpur and the second at Mohali on October 28. Team: Rahul Dravid (Captain), Virender Sehwag (Vice Captain), Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Venugopal Rao, Suresh Raina, M S Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh, Murali Karthik, Irfan Pathan, Ajit Agarkar, J P Yadav, Sreesanth, Gautam Gambhir and R P Singh.
