Next Bond to be Q-less, gadget-less (Go To Top)

Washington: English actor Daniel Craig replacing Pierce Brosnan as the 007 agent is not the only change fans will witness in upcoming Bond movie. MI6 gadget maker Q, who featured in the majority of the James Bond movies, is also not going to appear in the next instalment. According to E!online, 'Casino Royale' screenwriter Paul Haggis last month at the Toronto Film Fest had said that Q, most recently played by John Cleese, would not be seen in the next Bond film. Haggis said that it would be the first absence of Q since 'Live and Let Die', and that the new installment was trying to do for Bond what 'Batman Begins' did for Batman. "We're trying to reinvent Bond. He's 28. No Q, no gadgets," he was quoted as saying. The idea of a Q-less, gadget-less movie, however, couldn't impress some die hard Bond fans. "No gadgets or Q, eh? Why not get rid of the theme music, the cars, girls and vodka martinis as well?" asked a poster to the MI6.co.uk fan forum. Casino Royale, the 21st film in the Bond franchise, begins shooting in January next year in the Czech Republic, the Bahamas, Italy and at Pinewood Studios near London. It is slated for a Novemeber 2006 release.

Lennon's son didn't know his father was a Beatle (Go To Top)

London: The whole world knew John Lennon as a Beatle, but his son Sean Lennon was not aware of his father's fame until his classmates told him that he was the son of the legendary musician. "John and I were very careful about not trying to influence Sean musically or telling him who we were. Sean came home from school one day and said, 'Daddy are you a Beatle?' John had never mentioned it to him," femalefirst quoted Sean's mother Yoko Ono as saying. Yoko, however, expressed happiness that now her son knows everything about his parent's music, and is quite obsessed with it. "But you know, now he knows every lick, every intro, every beat of the Beatles' music, of John's music, of my music. Privately that makes me very happy. I don't know how he found out, but obviously he does some listening," she said.

Drew Barrymore may be new face of 'Missoni' (Go To Top)

London: Hollywood actress Drew Barrymore has reportedly been chosen as the official "face" of the world famous design house "Missoni". The 30 year old star is currently in Ibiza posing for the Italian fashion house's Spring-Summer 2006 Collections with Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot, reports Femalefirst quoting the Woman's Wear Daily. The 50-year-old fashion house, Missoni is known worldwide for their distinctive bright zig zag prints and patterns. The actress's last modelling assignment was for French cosmetic house Lanctme.

Going topless is liberating for Keira Knightly (Go To Top)

London: Pirates of the Caribbean star Keira Knightley has admitted that she felt completely "liberated" while going topless in the desert in her new film "Domino". The 20-year-old actress has reportedly done a kissing scene flashing her boobs in the desert as she plays a model turned bounty hunter in Tony Scott's new action-thriller. "I found it extremely liberating to be topless in the desert. It was marvellous. I just put on some sunscreen and I was ready to go," the Sun quoted the British beauty as saying. Though Kiera freaked out sunbathing her breasts in the desert, she found shooting with the guns as the biggest challenge. "The guns were the biggest challenge. Shooting the machinegun absolutely crippled me. I burst into tears - I was in pieces," she said.

Gladiators gave the world G-strings (Go To Top)

London: The very mention of G-strings conjures up images of sexy models donning them to enhance their sex appeal, but it may come as a surprise to you that its origins can be attributed to Roman gladiators over two thousand years ago. A piece of pottery discovered by divers Rolfe Mitchinson and Bob Middlemass in a river in the North of England shows a warrior wearing the distinctive thong, which is believed to be the genesis of modern day G-strings, reports the Mirror. The figure found in the River Tees at Piercebridge, near Darlington, is also holding what looks to be a whip. The divers have also found a hoard of 3,000 coins and jewellery, a Roman road and the remains of a Roman bridge in the river over the last 20 years.

Britney's baby's name up for grabs on eBay (Go To Top)

London: Now, you can bid for Britney's son Sean Preston Federline! Surprised? No, its not a joke, as a person, who has registered the pop princess' son's name as a website, is demanding two million dollars for it on internet auction site eBay. According to femalefirst, the person, whose identity has not been revealed, legally acquired the domain name seanprestonfederline.com, and is now trying to sell it back to Britney and her husband Kevin Federline. The unique sale has already attracted a host of bids, but the 'Toxic' singer is said to be unaware of the stunt at present.

Keira feels at ease lapdancing for gang members (Go To Top)

Washington: Hollywood actress Keira Knightly has said that she was getting nervous while dancing for real-life gang members in front of her mother, but the guys were really nice and made her feel at ease. Knightly, who plays late bounty hunter Domino Harvey in upcoming movie 'Domino', said that filming for the movie was quite daunting, as she had to defuse a standoff with East Los Angeles gangbangers by giving their leader a lapdance. She, however, said that the gang members were very sweet and conversed well with her mother. "They were really great, they were sweet guys. Very respectful, great to my mum, had good conversations; they'd explain all their different tattoos to her. And it was a hard scene for me to do because it was the first week of filming and, regardless of whether he was in a gang or not, I had to give his guy a lapdance. But they were really, really nice to me," Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

Pillows are hotbeds of fungi (Go To Top)

London: Pillow talk may actually be bad for health, with University of Manchester researchers revealing that there are millions of fungal spores right under our noses, harboured in pillows. According to a study, published in journal Allergy, the researchers dissected both feather and synthetic samples and identified several thousand spores of fungus per gram of used pillow. They studied samples from ten pillows with between 1.5 and 20 years of regular use. Aspergillus fumigatus, the species most commonly found in the pillows, is most likely to cause disease; and the resulting condition Aspergillosis has become the leading infectious cause of death in leukaemia and bone marrow transplant patients. Each pillow was found to contain a substantial fungal load, with four to 16 different species being identified per sample and even higher numbers found in synthetic pillows. The microscopic fungus Aspergillus fumigatus was particularly evident in synthetic pillows, and fungi as diverse as bread and vine moulds and those usually found on damp walls and in showers were also found. "We know that pillows are inhabited by the house dust mite which eats fungi, and one theory is that the fungi are in turn using the house dust mites' faeces as a major source of nitrogen and nutrition. There could therefore be a 'miniature ecosystem' at work inside our pillows," said lead researcher Professor Ashley Woodcock. Aspergillus is very difficult to treat, and as many as 1 in 25 patients who die in modern European teaching hospitals have the disease. Immuno-compromised patients such as transplantation, AIDS and steroid treatment patients are also frequently affected with life-threatening Aspergillus pneumonia and sinusitis.

Aspergillus can also worsen asthma, particularly in adults who have had asthma for many years, and cause allergic sinusitis in patients with allergic tendencies. Constant exposure to fungus in bed could be problematic. Fortunately, hospital pillows have plastic covers and so are unlikely to cause problems, but patients being discharged home - where pillows may be old and fungus-infected - could be at risk of infection. "These new findings are potentially of major significance to people with allergic diseases of the lungs and damaged immune systems - especially those being sent home from hospital," said Dr Geoffrey Scott, Chairman of the Fungal Research Trust which funded the study. Since patients spend a third of their life sleeping and breathing close to a potentially large and varied source of fungi, these findings certainly have important implications for patients with respiratory disease - especially asthma and sinusitis, the researchers conclude.

Royal Marines speedboat terrifies new James Bond (Go To Top)

London: New 007 agent Daniel Craig will soon be seen doing stunts in upcoming movie 'Casino Royale', but in real life the actor is petrified of taking a boat ride with the Marines! As the star got off the Royal Marines speedboat, which brought him along the Thames to his unveiling as Bond, he revealed that the superfast patrol boat had terrified him. "I'd like to thank the Marines for bringing me in like that - and scaring the s*** out of me," the Sun quoted him as saying. Craig, who has been picked to be the sixth actor to play James Bond, boarded the Raider at the warship HMS Belfast, and the Marines sped him over to meet waiting media at naval facility HMS President. Meanwhile, the MoD has defended Craig for wearing his lifejacket. "The Royal Marines are very professional and very conscientious about safety. The rules on lifejackets obviously depend on the circumstances. He was in safe hands," a spokesman was quoted as saying.

Aniston's public display of passion for Vaughn (Go To Top)

London: Though actress Jennifer Aniston has repeatedly laughed off her romance rumours with Vince Vaughn, she has again been spotted recently engaging in a public display of smoochies with the handsome actor. The pair, who met on the set of 'The Break Up', were reportedly spotted making out backstage at a Chicago theatre, after Vaughn's 'Wild West Comedy Show', when they became increasingly close with their arms around each other. At a party after the show, Vince grabbed the former 'Friends' beauty by the waist, pulled her to his side and told a few friends, 'She's the best!' while rubbing her back. The couple then started kissing each other passionately while bodyguards warned off onlookers. Aniston's spokesperson has, however, denied she is having a relationship with the actor. "Do not read into this. At the wrap party everyone was enjoying themselves, cast and crew included, and they were all being very affectionate to each other," Femalefirst quoted Aniston's spokesperson as telling America's People magazine.

J Lo is nuts about her butt (Go To Top)

London: She has it, flaunts it, and takes good care of it, and when people admire Latina diva, Jennifer Lopez' famous rear, she loves it. But keeping her bottom in shape is no easy task for the singer, as she says that it takes her hours of hard work in the gym to achieve the desired results. "I do special squats and work with loads of weights in the gym to achieve my butt," Femalefirst quoted her, as saying. And she says that all the efforts pay off when she gets compliments from her fans over her full posterior. "And in a way I'm kind of flattered when people compliment me for having a big ass." She was quoted, as saying.

Bond snub leaves Brosnan 'shaken and stirred' (Go To Top)

London: He may have loved his Martini's "shaken, not stirred" when he was Bond, but getting the boot from Bond bosses, appear to have left former Bond star, Pierce Brosnan, both shaken and stirred. Brosnan, who despite being nowhere on the bookies favourites lists in the run-up for the selection process for the next Bond, had harboured hopes of landing his fifth stint as the suave secret agent, but not having got the slot has left him fuming and questioning the rationale behind the producers decision. "I was just getting the hang of it, you know? But they wanted to go younger. They wanted to reinvigorate the part," The Sun quoted him, as saying. "Whether they made the right choice, who knows? "They're probably scared s***less, thinking, 'What have we done?' " he added.

Gravity taking toll of Jordan's bust (Go To Top)

London: Silicone, it seems, is no match for nature, especially when it comes to breast implants, and the full force of gravity seems to be striking busty model, Jordan's bustline, forcing her to consider getting back to what nature bestowed her with in the first place. The model, who silicone-enhanced bustline has helped her make millions, and made her one of the most viewed celebrities in the media, has admitted that she is planning to go in for breast reduction surgery to make her bosom more pert. "I want to get them done because I want them to be more pert. Just because I've had implants doesn't mean they stay perky forever," The Sun quoted her, as saying. And she says that with the passing years, physical forces like gravity have taken their toll on her famous assets, forcing her to consider getting her implants removed. "I've had two kids and gravity still has an effect." The paper quoted her, as saying.
