S
Sreesanth's family delighted over his selection
Cochin:
Since the time Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)
announced its 15-member squad for the one-day home series
against Sri Lanka, celebrations have not ceased in this lesser-known
residence in Cochin. This is the residence of the newest entry
into the Indian squad S Sreesanth. The 22-year-old right-arm
pace bowler on Friday was named in the national squad for
his outstanding performance in the recently concluded Challenger
series and with an idea to give Indian team a fresh and young
squad ahead of the 2007 World Cup. Sreesanth was the highest
wicket taker with seven wickets in the series. The tears of
joy do not seem to stop from the eyes of Sreesanth's mother
Savita Devi since she heard the news and congratulatory telephone
calls have not stopped ringing at her home. "Since his childhood,
he was always interested in cricket more than any other sport.
He, after being scolded by his brother and sister, used to
come to me for bowling and batting practice, and I used to
encourage him. I am really very happy and thrilled and believe
that it is our prayers that have been answered. I hope that
everyone's prayer will take him to new heights in the coming
matches," she said. Sreesanth's will be the third entry from
Kerala after Abey Kuruvilla and Tinu Yohanan. The seven match
ODI tour against Sri Lanka will start from October 25.
