Uma Bharti cancels visit to Bihar on election day

Bhopal: Senior BJP leader Uma Bharti has cancelled plans to visit Bihar on Tuesday when the first phase of the four- phased assembly polls in the state will take place. Bharti has opted to deliver a religious discourse in Bhopal instead. Bharti's decision comes a day after she held a show of strength in Bhopal by having a meeting with 70 of the BJP's 172 MLAs at her residence. Many of the MLAs are reported to have expressed their wish to see her return as the state's chief minister. Bharti had recenly written a letter to the RSS chief, K.S.Sudarshan, claiming that senior Sangh functionary Suresh Soni was scuttling her chances of returning to Bhopal. While she stated that she was unwell to undertake the trip to Bihar, Bharti called on senior party leaders before meeting other functionaries.
