The nasty torture scene sees 007's enemy, Le Chiffre, "tenderise" the dashing spy's private parts with a cane carpet-beater. . The episode is one of the most well-known moments in Ian Fleming's spy thriller 'Casino Royale' - and film bosses are determined to stick to the book. . However, director Martin Campbell admitted filming the scene - which is supposed to see Bond arch in an "involuntary spasm" as the baddie tortures him - would be a challenge. . "I'm still not quite sure how I'm going to film that scene," he was quoted in Britain's Daily Star newspaper, as saying "I think 'Casino Royale' will definitely be darker. More character, less gadgets. This will be grittier," he added.

Craig was no Bond aficionado in his childhood: mum (Go To Top)

Washington: Hollywood's latest Bond Daniel Craig may have got the opportunity of playing the suave spy, but in his childhood he was no fan of the womanising, gadget flaunting British agent. Craig's mother Carol has revealed that he was more interested in high brow theatre rather than the iconic figure of James Bond. Craig, who was named as Pierce Brosnan's successor last week, following a protracted selection process, will make his debut as the super spy in Casino Royale next year. But the 37-year-old's mother admits playing 007 was not one of her son's childhood ambitions. "Most boys in the 1970s were really into Bond but (Daniel) wasn't... He was more into theatre," she was quoted by Contactmusic, as saying.

When Madonna wanted child from Rodman  (Go To Top)

Washington: Former basketball player Dennis Rodman, who dated the pop singer Madonna 11 years ago, has claimed that the 'Material Girl' was desperate to have his kids. According to Ratethemusic, in his autobiography 'I should be dead by now', Rodman wrote that he was gambling in a Sin City casino when Madonna called him up and ordered to fly from Las Vegas to New York City to impregnate her. "Madonna wanted to have my babies... One time I was in Las Vegas at the craps table doing my thing when I got this frantic call. It was like the 'somebody died call' from New York. I picked up the phone and Madonna was like, 'I'm ovulating, I'm ovulating. Get your ass up here.' So I left my chips on the table, flew five hours to New York and did my thing. We got done and she was standing on her head in an attempt to promote conception - just like any girl trying to get pregnant. I flew back to Las Vegas and picked up my game where I left off," Rodman wrote.

'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire' is too scary for kids (Go To Top)

Washington: You may have to accompany your kid for the next Harry Potter film, because the British Board Of Film Classification (BBFC) has ruled that the fourth installment contains scenes which are too scary for young children. 'Harry Potter And The Goblet of Fire', which is slated for release next month, has been given 12A and PG-13 ratings in the UK and US respectively, which means that pre-teens can watch it only when accompanied by an adult. "The tone of the film is much scarier and darker than its predecessors. We expect most parents will still take their children but they should be aware that youngsters of a nervous disposition might be upset," Contactmusic quoted a BBFC spokesperson as saying.

London: Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor with her eight marriages would seem like a novice in the matrimony game, when compared to a Bosnian pensioner who claims to have been married 162 times and wants to marry at least another 100 women. Nedeljko Ilincic, 75, from Milosevac in Bosnia and Herzegovina, said he first got married when he was 15 and since then it has been "just one wife after another". He said he now plans to see if his "feat" is worthy of a place in the Guinness Book of Records. "I first got married when I was only 15. I did it mainly because my parents wanted me to marry a woman named Joka, even though she was 20 years older than me, because her family was rich. "I soon divorced her though because I didn't like her and after that it was just one wife after another. I seemed to be getting either married or divorced all the time," Ananova quoted him as saying to the local weekly Svet. And the former waiter, who is currently single, said that at 75 he had not lost his appetite for marriage. "I may be getting on a bit, but I'm not ready to give up on love just yet. Another 100 marriages would probably calm me down," he said.

Craig will surprise audiences: Bond composer (Go To Top)

London: The music composer of the James Bond movies, David Arnold has said Daniel Craig is the right choice to play the new 007 and is going to surpsrise audiences with his performance in the next Bond film 'Casino Royale'. "People should be very excited about what's going to happen. It's going to be very different. Everyone is bound to be nervous because Pierce Brosnan was so good and unquestionably James Bond. You could see James Bond when Pierce was Remington Steele. You can't see the James Bond that Daniel is going to be in the stuff he has done before," BBC quoted Arnold as saying. Arnold said that he had been involved in the screen testing of the hopefuls who auditioned for the Bond role, and "watching Daniel in his screen test, it is going to demand a different approach."

Two hours of TV watching can make kids obese (Go To Top)

Washington: Two studies published in the recent issue of The Journal of Pediatrics has found that there is a direct relationship between television watching and childhood obesity, with children spending a large chink of time sitting in front of the 'idiot box' more likely to be overweight than others. Dr. R.M. Viner and Dr. T.J. Cole from the University College London evaluated the effects of early childhood television watching on adult obesity by assessing data from 8,158 participants of the 1970 Birth Cohort. They assessed height, weight, and frequency of television watching at ages 5, 10, and 30 years. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) suggests that children should not watch more than two hours of television a day. But the researchers found that at age 5, approximately 40 percent of the participants exceeded the AAP's guidelines, although the average number of hours watched was 1.5 hours. They found that each additional hour of weekend TV watching by five-year-old children over the AAP's suggested two hours may increase the risk of obesity in 30 year olds by 7 percent. Drs. Kirsten Davison, Lori Francis, and Leann Birch from the State University of New York evaluated the television viewing behaviors of 173 girls and their parents. At both 9 and 11 years old, the girls watched an average of 1.9 hours of television a day, although approximately 39 percent of girls and 30 percent of parents exceeded the AAP's guidelines. Girls who watched more than the recommended two hours per day were 2.6 times more likely to be overweight than girls who watched less than two hours. The researchers suggest that limiting the amount of time a child spends in front of the television may be a good way for parents to reduce the risk of obesity in children. Because parents' television viewing habits directly influences their children's, parents must serve as role models. Parents should limit the frequency of television viewing by encouraging alternate forms of recreation and selective program choices for themselves and their children, they conclude.
