Nanaji Deshmukh criticises Vajpayee, Sonia

Chitrakoot: Social activist and RSS veteran Nanaji Deshmukh today criticised former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi for not taking any initiative to establish communal harmony in the country at the time of Gujarat riots. "The Prime Minister and the leader of the Opposition should have gone on the same flight to Ahmedabad and told every single person that the Government and the Opposition will not encourage such incidents to happen. The initiative from them would have saved the situation in Gujarat and elsewhere," Deshmukh told reporters here. Nanaji Deshmukh, who is also a member of Rajya Sabha, said that there was no political party at present which had any commitment towards the society and the country. "All the parties were alike without any exception. Sadly it had been continuing for past so many years and there was no improvement in sight with the society and the people at the receiving end... Greed for power is the only driving force behind all the parties of the country," he said. Meanwhile, RSS' National Executive Committee meeting began in Chitrakoot on Friday amidst chanting of vedic mantras. The meeting was addressed by RSS Chief K Sudarshan. Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) international president Ashok Shingal and its general secretary Praveen Togadia are also attending the meeting, while BJP is being represented by its general secretary Sanjay Joshi. This is the first time, BJP president LK Advani has not been invited in this meeting.
