Mau: Governor TV Rajeswar summons Mulayam Singh
Mau
(Uttar Pradesh): Uttar Pradesh Governor TV Rajeswar summoned
State Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav at the Raj Bhawan
on Saturday to apprise him of his views on the Mau riots.
Rajeswar, who is understood to have annoyed over the laxity
of the district administration on the Mau communal riots,
said this during his visit to the riot affected areas in the
Mau town today. Expressing concern over the alleged involvement
of independent Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Mukhtar
Ansari in the riot, Rajeswar said it was unfortunate that
even after 55 years of independence such communal riots were
taking place. Earlier this morning, Rajeshwar visited riot-hit
Mau amid tight security arrangements to take stock of the
situation and to meet the affected people. The Governor also
met delegations of the Congress party and the Bharatiya Janata
Party at the Circuit House after visiting areas hit by communal
frenzy over the past week. Meanwhile, the situation in Mau
was peaceful today and no incident has been reported for the
last four days. The indefinite curfew, which was clamped on
October 14, is yet to be relaxed officially even as women
and children were being allowed to go out of their houses
during stipulated time to purchase essential commodities.
