Indian
choppers touch raw vein in Musharraf
Islamabad:
Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf has said Pakistan
had enough helicopters at its disposal to take any from India.
He said that if Pakistan was to send its choppers to India,
New Delhi would never accept it. "We have enough helicopters
there. We don't want to take their helicopters with military
personnel. Will they take our helicopters? If I want to send
my helicopters to the Indian side I believe I am 200 percent
sure they will not take it," the Daily Times quoted Musharraf
as saying to the BBC. Earlier there were reports that India
had offered Pakistan its helicopters to aid the relief and
rescue work in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). Pakistan had
refused it saying it had no problem with Indian helicopters,
but would not accept Indian pilots flying them in PoK, keeping
in view the security scenario. India had also refused to lend
its helicopters without pilots. He further said that his proposal
for opening of Line of Control was a positive step aimed at
moving towards a solution, and not limited to an issue of
a few helicopters. "I believe moving forward is in political
terms, let's make the Line of Control irrelevant. Let's open
it out, let people come on our side or our people come on
their side to help in reconstruction," he said. "That is moving
forwards to a solution, not an issue of a few helicopters,"
he added.
