90-y old quake-hit woman survives 15 days under rubble
Muzaffarabad:
The devastating October 8th earthquake, which hit Pakistan,
PoK, and northern parts of India, killed more than 55,000
people, and spared few with its fury, but surprisingly a 90-year-old
woman was rescued from under the rubble in Muzafarrabad, after
almost 15 days of the quake. The doctors attending to the
old woman said that her condition was stable, and she was
currently being treated at a field hospital, an Online News
agency report said. The woman's rescue is surprising considering
that a week after the quake, the focus of aid efforts shifted
from rescue to providing relief as the chances of finding
survivors was considered negligible. Meanwhile, rescue teams
from local areas and abroad rushed to Pakistan-occupied- Kashmir
and NWFP after the devastating earthquake that has killed
at least 50,000 people, but it was not clear who was responsible
for rescuing the woman on Sunday.
