'Camilla chic' is the new fashion mantra (Go To Top)

London: Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall may not be as glamorous as the late Princess Diana, but she has made her own style statement by becoming the epitome of grace and refinement. Ever since her marriage to Prince Charles, Camilla has spruced up her image and her style and elegance have given birth to a new buzzword,'Camilla chic.' A dictionary of new phrases to enter the language says the term now rivals words like sudoku, the Japanese puzzle craze, in popularity. Since her wedding when she dazzled fashion-watchers in an elegant oyster-coloured design by Robinson Valentine topped by a Philip Treacy hat, the Duchess has become a byword for dignified style. Elizabeth Emanuel, who created Princess Diana's wedding dress, has praised Camilla's choices as "very chic, very elegant." According to Hello magazine, Her transformation has been so complete that the dictionary - Fanboys and Overdogs: The Language Report - even credits her with helping the label Burberry boost plummeting sales. "In 2005 it regained ascendancy when Camilla Parker Bowles pronounced the chain's designer, Christopher Bailey to be her favourite."

`Royal' Delhi Durbar tiara rests on Camilla's head (Go To Top)

London: After her marriage to Prince Charles earlier this year, the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla wore her first royal headdress on Monday night when she arrived at a dinner hosted in honour of visiting King of Norway and his Queen. The royal crown was the same that Queen Mother Mary wore at the Delhi Darbar during the coronation of King George V in December 1911. It was the first time when Camilla was present at a royal banquet, which was also attended by the Queen, Prince Phillip, Prince of Wales, British Prime Minister Tony Blair, his wife Cherie Blair, Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, and the Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Rowan Williams, besides 160 other guests. The diamond headpiece, loaned to Camilla by the Queen, is a circle of brilliant-cut diamonds mounted in gold and set in platinum was made by Garrards in 1911. It was lent to the Queen Mother for her visit to South Africa and remained with her, but she is not believed to have worn it subsequently, reported The Telegraph. The tiara previously included five of the Cambridge cabochon emeralds, and also was occasionally worn with two diamonds from the Cullinan stone. But, the emeralds were removed by Queen Mary and made into another tiara now owned by the Queen - the diamonds were kept separately as a brooch. Other royals present at the banquet included the Duke of York, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, the Princess Royal, the Duke and Duchess of Kent and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.

Potter's dream dates are Portman and Johansson (Go To Top)

London: Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe may not be very lucky with girls like his onscreen alter ego but he would love to take Hollywood beauties Natalie Portman or Scarlett Johansson to the Hogwarts Yule Ball. The 16-year-old star revealed his love for the two glamorous stars at a London press conference to promote the latest Potter film - Harry Potter And The Goblet of Fire. Daniel added that now he's entering his late teens and isn't "just a child actor" anymore, he is able to voice his opinion about his scenes on set. "It's been an odd five years but it's been great. And we've got a while before the films end, " he was quoted by the Sun, as saying. "I'm not absolutely confident that I'm doing them all. I'm definitely doing the fifth, but after that who knows? he added. The latest Potter instalment sees the characters mature into adolescence with Harry falling for fellow Hogwarts pupil Cho Chang.

New Bond hates hand guns and 'shaken Martini's' (Go To Top)

London: Daniel Craig may have bagged the coveted role of James Bond but the actor is no gadget flaunting gun weilding fellow in real life, in fact he has revealed that he hates guns. "I hate handguns. Handguns are used to shoot people and as long as they are around, people will shoot each other,"Craig was quoted by OK! magazine, as saying. "That's a simple fact. I've seen a bullet wound and it was a mess. It was on a shoot and it scared me. Bullets have a nasty habit of finding their target and that's what's scary about them," he added. And Craig is not the only Bond who hates guns, Roger Moore, who played the superspy from 1973 to 1985, said after quitting the role that he hated 'that awful pose' of Bond with his gun which has become an iconic movie image, reports the Sun. The actor later became an ambassador for children's charity Unicef and declared: "Today I am completely opposed to small arms and what they can do to children. "I played every role tongue-in-cheek because I don't really believe in that sort of hero. I don't like guns." Craig was unveiled earlier this month as the successor to Pierce Brosnan, also doesn't share Bond's love of Martinis 'shaken not stirred'. The 37-year-old also admitted "I love a Martini straight up," He will play a tougher, grittier 007 in Casino Royale, which is based on Ian Fleming's first Bond book. The movie is due for release in November next year.

Harry Potter is colossally short of cash  (Go To Top)

London: Harry Potter director Mike Newell has revealed that some of the colossal scenes in the latest Potter flick, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire had to be almost axed due to studio bosses running short of cash. British-born Newell said that within a couple of months of starting on the 100million pounds schoolboy wizard film he was "angered" by the lack of cash. "There wasn't enough money to make the film properly and that really p****d me off," he was quoted by the Mirror,as saying. Newell, who also directed Four Weddings and a Funeral, said the effects-packed opening at the Quidditch World Cup, had faced the chop. But after a row with Warner Brothers it was included to save fans being "short-changed". The 12A-rated The Goblet of Fire features Harry's romance as Hogwarts School prepare for the Yule Ball. But it also has fear and danger as Voldemort again tries to destroy Harry, played by Daniel Radcliffe.

Zeta Jones made Douglas wait 9 months for first kiss (Go To Top)

London: Winning an Oscar might have been easier for veteran actor Michael Douglas than winning his future wife Catherine Zeta Jones' heart, as she consciously held back to keep him interested in her and only kissed him after nine months since their first date. "I'm sure he thought I was a man in drag. At some point he was like, something is a little off here," Femalefirst quoted her as revealing on a US chat show. Swansea-born Catherine met the 'Fatal Attraction' star at the Deauville Film Festival in France where she was promoting Zorro, and Douglas had become besotted by the unknown woman he'd seen playing the fiery Elena Montero. A whirlwind courtship followed that led to her marrying the 61-year-old Hollywood star. The couple wed five years ago, but describing their courtship, Catherine said: "I was a good Welsh girl."

Paris Hilton's loo sexcapades (Go To Top)

London: For most people, the loo is the place where they ease their uncontrollable urges by emptying their bladders, but for some, it also comes handy when they need to release their pent-up sexual passions. And a rather well-known personality, hotel-heiress, and socialite, Paris Hilton, apparently belongs to the latter category, as she reportedly resorted to using the place to get nice and cozy with her latest flame, Greek shipping-tycoon, Stavros Niarchos. According to Femalefirst, the pair had a steamy loo romp at a Hollywood party, after they had been spotted kissing and fondling each other earlier in the evening. The dalliance comes just weeks after Hilton announced her split from Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis, and the grapevine has it that the hotel heiress is now dating Mary-Kate Olsen's ex- boyfriend, Stavros Niarchos. The 20-year-old Greek, who is even richer than Hilton's ex-beau Latsis, has been spotted with the actress "making out all night" at a number of Hollywood hot-spots in recent weeks. However, Hilton's alleged romance has stirred a fresh controversy, with her friends claiming that actress Lindsay Lohan also has her eyes on Niarchos, something that Lohan vehemently disagrees with. "That's 100 per cent not true. Lindsay is very good friends with Mary-Kate, and she is appalled that Paris is dating Stavros," Contactmusic quoted Lohan's representative as saying.
