India,
Pakistan to withdraw troops from Siachen
New
Delhi: The Governments of India and Pakistan have decided
to withdraw their troops from Siachen Glacier, Defence Minister
Pranab Mukherjee said in an interview to a news channel on
Thursday. However, the modalities were still not worked out,
Mukherjee said. "We have agreed. They (Pakistan) have agreed
to withdraw troops from the present positions. There is no
two opinion about it, both sides have agreed", Mukherjee said.
"The disagreement is where we are demanding that we must identify
the places, delineate the places we were before withdrawal,
so that there is a record that the respective countries troops
occupied these places," Mukherjee said while responding to
a question asked by the channel.

Ganguly
claims that he has been vindicated (Go

Bangalore:
Two days after being instructed by the BCCI and the review
committee not to speak to the media about his spat with Indian
cricket coach Greg Chappell, Indian captain Sourav Ganguly
was quoted by the Deccan Herald as saying today that he had
been fully vindicated. "In a way I feel I have been vindicated
because I hadn't done anything wrong. The review committee
gave me a patient hearing and I put my point of view across
to them," the Deccan Herald quoted Ganguly as saying. "I think
they were reasonably convinced with my replies and I am very
happy the matter has been settled now... You could say I am
happy and relieved in equal parts," Ganguly said. Asked whether
he would be able to work with Chappell after their recent
spat, he said, "I don't see any reason why we cannot. After
all, both of us are interested in the welfare of the team
and Indian cricket." "Whatever happened is in the past. I
am confident we can come together in the future and work well.
We have a lot of cricket ahead of us starting with the series
against Sri Lanka next month. "After a break for a couple
of weeks it is time for the Challenger Series. We need to
do well because our record in one- day finals is not great,"
he said.
