Adult pacifier to calm Katie  (Go To Top)

New York: It seems that actor Tom Cruise will go to any lengths to ensure that fiancee Katie Holmes doesn't violate any Scientology codes by shrieking in pain when she gives birth to their child, by buying her an adult pacifier to chew on when she goes into labour. According to a source, Cruise has commissioned an adult size pacifier to be made for Holmes that will squelch her screams of pain. "He commissioned an adult-sized 'binky' for her to clench between her teeth, hoping that it'll squelch her screams. In keeping with a Scientology silent birth, Tom is prepared to do whatever it takes to muffle Katie's moans and groans during the delivery," the New York Daily News quoted the source, as telling Star magazine. However, Arnold Robinson, Cruise's PR rep, denied the reports, and stated that the adult pacifier didn't exist.

Skinny women are 'emaciated clones'  (Go To Top)

London: 'Harry Potter' author JK Rowling has slammed the 'obsession' of being thin, for it is making the female sex into 'empty-headed, 'emaciated clones'. Rowling, who is currently working on the seventh and final book in the 'Harry Potter' series, said that she would rather her two daughters, Mackenzie and Jessica, be 'opinionated and original' rather than 'self-obsessed, emaciated clones'. "I've got two daughters who will have to make their way in this skinny-obsessed world, and it worries me, because I don't want them to be empty-headed, self-obsessed, emaciated clones; I'd rather they were independent, interesting, idealistic, kind, opinionated, original, funny a thousand things, before 'thin'," the Telegraph quoted her, as stating on her website. Rowling also praised singer Pink's new song 'Stupid Girls', for she believes that it is 'the antidote-anthem' for everything she thinks about women and thinness. "Stupid Girls satirises the talking toothpicks held up to girls as role models: those celebrities whose greatest achievement is un-chipped nail polish, whose only aspiration seems to be getting photographed in a different outfit nine times a day, whose only function in the world appears to be supporting the trade in overpriced handbags and rat-sized dogs," she added.

New Bond is the pits at poker! (Go To Top)

London: Here's more for the new Bond haters who simply cannot see Daniel Craig portraying their beloved spy James Bond, as Craig is reportedly a dim wit at poker. An expert had to be flown abroad to teach him the game, even though the gambling scene is crucial to latest movie Casino Royale. The 37-year-old actor has already been blasted for wearing a lifejacket in a speedboat in the Thames, not being keen on driving a manual car and hating guns. He became a laughing stock again when producers found he did not know a Royal Flush from a Full House. "Daniel could not play cards - it was so funny. It is a critical part of the film, where Bond shows how cool a customer he is," an insider was quoted by The Sun, as saying. But it was frustratingly ridiculous how long it took to teach the cast how to play or behave at a poker table. "Everyone at the hotel has been laughing about a Bond who can't play cards," the source added.

Sharon's fee for stripping (Go To Top)

New York: Getting Sharon Stone to strip for 'Basic Instinct 2' might have been quite a coup for movie bosses, but it certainly didn't come cheap, for they had to promise her quite a few material goodies before she agreed to bare all. According to the New York Daily News, Stone's contract rider, which has found its way to website thesmokinggun.com, shows what all it took the producers of the movie to keep the stunning 48- year old happy. As per the contract, movie bosses kept their leading lady happy by not only giving her clothes, cars and Pilates equipment, but also 3,500 dollars a week on security, a convertible, a presidential suite, a private chef, pay for three nannies, and two assistants.

Daniel Craig turns latest gay icon! (Go To Top)

Washington: New James Bond actor, Daniel Craig seems to be attracting more boys than girls. Craig, who is currently filming the forthcoming 007 movie Casino Royale revealed that he was mobbed by gay fans who want to look at his body rather than finding out about his upcoming movie. "I was out recently and all these gay guys were all over me like a rash, but they never ask about the Bond plot," Contactmusic quoted the 38-year-old as saying.

Jane Austen's biopic begins filming (Go To Top)

London: Screen adaptations of Jane Austen's novels have been blockbusters, but now the author's own life is to be the subject of a film. An 8 million pound movie detailing the thwarted summer love of Austen at 19 for a young and roguish Irishman, Tom Lefroy, a real life suitor, has begun shooting in Dublin. "It is young love. It is Jane Austen in love, something you've never seen before, a complete departure from the usual oblique portrait of her as a spinster," Robert Bernstein, one of the producers, was quoted by The Telegraph, as saying. Becoming Jane stars Anne Hathaway, seen recently in Brokeback Mountain, as the author, James McAvoy, star of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, as her young Irish beau, and Julie Walters as Jane's mother. "Anne has the perfect combination of intelligence, emotional vulnerablity and steely determination for our Jane," Julian Jarrold, the director, who made Kinky Boots, said. The producers follow a long tradition of using Austen for inspiration. Six films have been made of Pride and Prejudice and Emma has been adapted five times. Persuasion, Mansfield Park and Northanger Abbey have also all been filmed.

Roberts turns real life Erin Brokovich (Go To Top)

Washington: Hollywood actress Julia Roberts has a new crusade in her life - that of trying to save 100,000 acres of wildlife-rich land near her home in New Mexico from being drilled by big oil companies. The 'Erin Brokovich' star and hubby Danny Moder are working to save the New Mexico's wildlife sanctuary, Valle Vidal, from being opened up for drilling. Roberts said that in a time when so much had already been destroyed, it was important for people to save what was left, especially so that the future generations can lead a better life. "At a time like the one we're in right now, where you feel like government and big business are kind of the same thing, people feel like the die is cast. So much has already been destroyed and done and you can't go back. Well, we can go forward, in a different way," Contactmusic quoted her, as saying. "People think, 'Well, I won't be here when the planet implodes'. But maybe your grandchildren will, or your great-great grandchildren, or your great-great-great grandchildren. And if you could give them one more day on earth, wouldn't you do that for them?" she added.

Keira fears a real-life marriage (Go To Top)

London: British beauty Keira Knightley has decided to give up on having a real life wedding, for she feels nothing can beat the on-screen nuptial ceremonies she's had. The Academy Award nominee said that being married five times on- screen was enough for her, and that nothing, in her opinion, could top the ceremony she had in the movie 'Love Actually'. "I've been married five times in films, had three children and countless proposals - and all before I'm 20! So I think that's quite enough. Plus I don't know how you'd top the wedding I had in Love Actually." The Sun quoted her, as telling New Woman magazine.

London: Hotel heiress Paris Hilton has revealed that she loves being flat-chested, and thinks that it's 'hot'. Tabloid favourite Hilton, who is currently working on her debut music album, said that she loved not being busty, for it meant that she never had to bother about wearing a bra. "I like being flat. I think it's hot. I never have to wear a bra," The Sun quoted her, as telling Elle magazine. However, she does admit that as a young teen she had wanted to a get a boob job because her flat-chest made her look like a boy. "When I was 13, I really wanted a boob job because all my friends started to have boobs and I was the only one who looked like a boy," she added.
