Rome bestows honour on Sofia Loren (Go To Top)

       Washington: Visitors to the Victor Emmanuel Monument in Rome will now see more than the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and memorials to Garibaldi, the 19th century Italian military hero, as an exhibition in honour of international film star Sophia Loren opened at the monument on Saturday (08Apr06). With this Loren became the first Italian woman to have an exhibition at the monument dedicated to her life. The 71-year old curvaceous star was overcome with emotion at the unveiling ceremony, reports Contactmusic. "I have never forgotten my roots," the report quoted her, as telling the assembled crowd.

James Bond wants to earn pots of cash! (Go To Top)

      Washington: The new James Bond, British actor Daniel Craig has revealed that more than anything else he wants to make big movies, for that means a bigger pay packet for him. Craig said that he had a knack of choosing films that didn't earn him big money, but now as the new 007, he was looking forward to making interesting movies that would also earn him a pretty penny. "I want to make big movies and make as much money as I can. It would be nice to earn loads of cash. I tend to choose movies which don't make much money, but that means I get to make interesting films," Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

Jude Law and Sienna Miller on again (Go To Top)

      London: Rumours are abuzz that British stars Jude Law and Sienna Miller may be giving their relationship another try, after he jetted to New York at short notice to see her. According to a source, the 'Casanova' beauty wants to reconcile with Law, but knows that it won't be easy. "Sienna would be up for a reconciliation with Jude but knows it is not going to be easy," the Mirror quoted the source, as saying. "They've both been hurt and there's a lot of water under the bridge, but since they split for good both of them have realised that they did once have something great," the source added.

Elvis' ex supports Cruise' Scientology (Go To Top)

     Washington: Actor Tom Cruise has found a supporter for Scientology's silent birth in Elvis Presley's ex-wife Priscilla. Priscilla Presley insisted that Scientology founder L Ron Hubbard's drug-free silent births show respect to the baby and stop them becoming unbalanced, and added that if she had been aware of it before, she would also have opted for a silent birth when delivering her daughter Lisa Marie. "If people actually read L Ron Hubbard's teachings they would understand that drug-free silent births show respect to the baby and stop them becoming unbalanced. I wish I'd had a silent birth when I had Lisa Marie," Contactmusic quoted her, as saying.

Divorce runs in Eminem's family (Go To Top)

      London: Rapper Eminem's granny has revealed that repeated divorces run in the family. The rapper,33, real name Marshall Mathers III, filed for divorce from his childhood love for a second time earlier this week, after being remarried in January. The singer's granny Betty Kresin, 66, married and divorced Ronnie Polkinghorn three times. She had already divorced another man. "I could have saved Marshall the trouble if he'd called. He's a chip of the old block," the Mirror quoted Eminem's granny as saying. Expressing relief regarding the split with Kim she said, "She's torn our family apart."

Casablanca voted greatest screenplay (Go To Top)

       Washington: Hollywood movie 'Casablanca,' starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, has topped the Writers Guild of America's inaugural list of the 101 Greatest Screenplays of all time. The Oscar-winning screenplay for the 1942 hit," by Julius Epstein, Philip Epstein and Howard Koch, was chosen from more than 1,400 nominated works and was based on a play called Everybody Comes to Rick's by Murray Burnett and Joan Alison. In second place was Francis Ford Coppola's 1972 Mafia masterpiece, 'The Godfather', written by Coppola and Mario Puzo, followed by 'Chinatown' penned by Robert Towne. While Herman Mankiewicz and Orson Welles' 'Citizen Kane' came in fourth, Joseph L. Mankiewicz's 'All About Eve' rounded off the top five. The poll was voted on by members of the WGA's East Coast and West Coast branches, and was created to honour the best of the written word on the big screen. "This list and the films on it are meant to be scrutinized and criticized, dissected and collected, viewed and reviewed. They are the literature of our industry and the legacy of our union," E!Online quoted WGA West President Patric Verrone, as saying.
