Brit film becomes biggest box office flop in history (Go To Top)

London: A 200,000 pounds British film by director Andrew Rajan was named the biggest flop of all time when it managed to rake in a grand earning of only 89 pounds at the British box office. Rajan, who not only directed but also co-starred in 'Offending Angels' the story of two porn-loving lads finding love with guardian angels, said that everything had gone wrong in the making of the movie. "Everything that could have gone wrong went wrong," The Sun quoted him, as saying. First, a cameo by Rajan's 'This Life' co-star Jack Davenport had to be cut because shoddy camera work left him unrecognisable. Then, funding for the movie fell through after shooting began, leaving Rajan to literally beg friends and family for cash. The movie then spent a year in editing after the film and sound mix got lost twice. The movie's bucket of woes seemed to overflow for critics ravaged it after it opened, and it managed to last just one week in British cinemas, with the usher and projectionist being the only ones to see the movie during its 14 screenings at one movie hall.

James Bond faces people's wrath (Go To Top)

London: Movie bosses of the new Bond movie 'Casino Royale' must be feeling that someone has put a hex on it, for not having been able to get a heroine and villain as yet, but barely a week after filming started, angry residents of the Czech capital Prague have handed a petition to officials at the town hall demanding they take action to stop the noise caused by the movie. According to Fox News, residents living around the studio where the movie is being filmed, are complaining that their lives are being made a misery by the noise and traffic caused by the high performance cars constantly speeding down the roads, and by the stretch limos carrying the stars and huge lorries carrying stage props. Officials at the local council are also admitting that they have been plagued by non-stop phone calls by cantankerous residents telling them to put a stop to the noise. The council, after sending experts to the studio, is now backing the residents, and has ordered controls on the comings and goings around the Modrany film studio. Though the production company, Stillking, insists that the noise and traffic levels are within the agreed limits, it has still assured locals that it will take more care in future to avoid upsetting them. Filming at the Modrany studio is scheduled to continue for the next 10 days after which, the movie will then be shot at Strahov monastery before the crews move to the Bahamas.

Madonna denies marital trouble  (Go To Top)

Washington: Music icon Madonna has denied reports that her close relationship with producer Stuart Price is causing trouble in her five-year old marriage to British director Guy Ritchie, by insisting that the two of them are just friends. Rumours of the Madonna-Price relationship started circulating after it was noticed that the 'Hung Up' singer was spending a lot of time with the 28-year old producer, despite work on the album Confessions On a Dancefloor having ended quite some time back. According to a source, working on the album had brought the two together, and Madonna now considered Price to be one of the most important people in her life. "It's no secret that Madonna and Stuart have developed a special working relationship. They enjoy each other's company and respect each other. She confides in him and regards him as one of the most important people in her life," Contactmusic quoted the source, as telling British newspaper The Daily Mirror. However Madonna's publicist, Liz Rosenberg, insisted that the superstar singer's marriage was not on the rocks, and that Madonna treated Price as her younger brother. "There's no strain in Madonna's marriage. Her relationship with Guy is good. They are happy. She treats him (Price) like a little brother. They have fun and talk a lot," she said.
