Madonna's oxygen therapy to beat jet-lag
(Go To Top)

Washington: Pop star Madonna has perhaps got addicted to oxygen machines, as she has purchased one for each of her homes, to help her boost her energy levels and combat jet- lag. The Queen of pop originally bought the machines to give herself oxygen facials, which help her maintain a flaw-less complexion, despite her growing age, but after indulging in them for over a year, she discovered other uses for the machine. "You can also take the oxygen machine and inhale if you're feeling really tired or jet-lagged, which is one of the reasons I have them at home," Ratethemusic quoted her, as saying. "You just lie down for 10 minutes and put it in your nose. They are really great," she added.

Romeo can't kiss Juliet in school anymore (Go To Top)

London: School boys who vie for the role of Romeo in school plays just to kiss the pretty girl playing Juliet, may be disappointed as new guidelines for school plays drawn up by the Welsh Assembly have barred kissing in plays. The advice, which could soon be extended to the rest of the UK, says love scenes between pupils should "stop at a peck on the cheek to protect youngsters from abuse". It goes on: "Drama teachers must cut or adapt plays if they have to in order to protect children and young people. They should not rely on arguments about the artistic integrity of the text." "Protecting children is our key priority. Teachers should be sensitive to learners' concerns about issues such as kissing and never insist that any child or young person should kiss another," a Welsh Assembly spokesman was quoted by The Telegraph, as saying. However, Margaret Higgins, of the National Association for the Teaching of Drama, told the Times Educational Supplement, "You can't just cut out scenes like the kiss in Romeo and Juliet. It is a crucial moment." In fact, it is two crucial moments. Ending the balcony scene, Romeo tells Juliet: "Farewell, farewell! One kiss and I'll descend." And in the play's tragic climax, Juliet, suiting the action to the words, says to her dead lover: "I will kiss thy lips; haply some poison yet doth hang on them?" In neither case does a peck on the cheek seem to meet the case.

Keira Knightley hates her hairy legs (Go To Top)

London: British beauty Keira Knightley has revealed that posing in the buff for Vanity Fair magazine made her cringe - not because she has reservations about nudity, but because her legs weren't shaved. The Oscar nominee, who appears with actress Scarlett Johansson on the publication's front cover, said that she had been horrified when she had been asked to pose nude, because she was afraid that the whole world would see her hairy legs. "We got there and they said: 'Do you mind doing it in the nude?'. And we said: 'What?' I thought: 'I can't. I haven't shaved my legs.' And they said: 'Don't worry we will retouch,'" The Sun quoted her, as telling Access Hollywood. However, Knightley now finds the whole episode hilarious, and thinks that it will make a good tale to relate to her grandkids. "It was hilarious, I loved it. It makes me giggle every time I see it. I think it is something to show the grandchildren," she added.

Eva Green is the next Bond babe (Go To Top)

Washington: French actress Eva Green has landed the role of Bond's love interest Vesper Lynd in the next James Bond instalment, Casino Royale. The announcement ends a long, highly publicised search for the Bond girl. A string of big-name Hollywood stars and foreign actresses were linked to the role that eventually went to Green, who recently appeared in the film Kingdom of Heaven next to Orlando Bloom. "Vesper is a pivotal role in Casino Royale and it takes much more than beauty to make this role work. When you think about the great James Bond adventures, of course you think about action and espionage, but you need to have palpable sexual tension in the movie and in casting Vesper, we really needed to up the ante, because this character is very much an equal to Bond and central to our story," EOnline! Quoted Amy Pascal, Columbia Pictures studio boss, as saying. This announcement comes only a day after director Martin Campbell announced that actor Mads Mikkelsen will play the villain Le Chiffre.
