Rahul Mahajan case: Sharma, Ganesh get bail

New Delhi: The Tughlaq Road Police Station on Wednesday granted bail to former secretary of late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, Harish Sharma and Ganesh who is a member of Mahajan's household arrested in the Rahul Mahajan drug abuse case. The Police granted bail to Sharma and Ganesh on a personal surety of Rs 50,000 each and have asked them to be available for interrogation whenever required. The police arrested Sharma and Ganesh on Tuesday on charges of tampering with evidence in the case by ordering the removal of champagne bottles and cleaning of the Mahajan's 7, Safdarjung Road residence on June 2. Rahul and Pramod Mahajan's Private Secretary Bibek Moitra were rushed to the New Delhi's Apollo hospital on June 2 after they were found unconscious allegedly after consuming drugs at the Mahajan residence. Moitra was declared brought dead at the Apollo hospital.

The police on Tuesday questioned Sharma on why he took Rahul and Moitra to Apollo instead of AIIMS, which is closer to Mahajan's residence. Meanwhile, the second report of the CFSL has confirmed the presence of heroin in Rahul's blood samples and vomit of Sahil. Police is waiting for Moitra's viscera report. Reports said that Police are also likely to take Sahil Zaroo, who allegedly supplied drugs to Rahul and Moitra, to Srinagar for further investigatino. A Delhi Police team is tracking Sahil's Mumbai links. For the second day today, the Police questioned the doctors of Apollo hospital regarding the medical condition of Rahul at the time of admission to the hospital on June 2 and the treatment administered to him. Apollo Hospital had bungled on its medical report at first saying there were no traces of drugs in Rahul's body and contradicting it within 24 hours, saying traces of drugs were found in Rahul's urine, though they were within permissible limits.

Apollo director refutes 'resignation' story

New Delhi: Apollo Medical Director Dr. Anupam Sibal refuted television news channel's "breaking story" of his resignation from his post. Speaking to ANI, Dr. Sibal clarified: "There is not an iota of truth that I have resigned", adding "Why should I? I have no intention of doing such thing". Some private television news channel "broke the news" that Dr. Sibal has resigned churning rumours of some pressure being exerted by the hospital on Dr. Sibal to quit. Dr. Sibal had come under cloud over alleged misrepresentation and suppression of facts relating to Rahul Mahajan's medico-legal case. Apollo Hospital officials too denied Dr. Sibal's resignation, adding that rumours were generated to tarnish the hospital's image. Meanwhile, the viscera report of Bibek Moitra has confirmed the presence of heroin and cocaine.
