Old
age homes in Gujarat, where elders feel at home
Ahmedabad:
Gone are the days when old-age homes were viewed as
just as a shelter for lonely, destitute or helpless
senior citizens left alone by their children. Today
there are many old age homes where elders like to
stay because they find many like-minded people. Many
of them are well-to-do, have no problem with their
family, adn are only looking for common interest and
good company. They love to live in the company of
people of their age having same interest and passion,
which is , otherwise a difficult choice while being
with their children at home. "I have come over here
of my won will . I saw this place and liked the environment
and atmosphere. They have very good accommodation
.If one wants to live happily and peacefully, he/she
should come here. I am thankful to the person who
has made this place" says Kanaiya Lal Parikh, a resident
of age old home. With more youngsters migrating abroad,
their parents prefer to stay back. "There are people
whose children are settled abroad , such couple do
not have shortage of money, they just want a good
comfortable home, where they can stay. Such requirements
are in demand" says Narendra Bhai Patel, a trustee
of an old age home.
