Campaign against female foeticide in Meerut

Meerut: To create awareness against the female foeticide, members of the Survi Parivar, an NGO, organized an awareness campaign in Meerut. On Navratris, we worship Goddess Durga. She is the embodiment of power, love and goodness. In spite of the fact that people worship her, there are innumerable cases of female foeticide, where the baby girl is killed in the womb itself. For many years, a section of the people are practising the female foeticide. To create awareness among the masses against the practise on the wake of the Navratris, members of the Survi Parivar, an NGO, launched an awareness campaign in Meerut city. "On Navratri, we have launched a campaign against foeticide. On Navratri, we worship the Goddess and on the other hand, we kill the baby girl in the womb," said Dinesh Talwar, president of the Survi Parivar. Young girls, dressed like Goddess took to streets and participated in this awareness campaign. "Today, we girls are protesting against foeticide and on Navratri, we promise to prove ourselves more than the boys," said Priyanka, a young girl. This campaign will continue till nine days when the Navratris conclude.
