The mass wedding ceremony witnessed all couples getting married as per their varying customs and attended by a huge number of relatives and friends of wedding couples in Indore's Dalal Bagichi ground of Indore. "We are very happy. It is a good initiative. The unity that one got to see here is above religious differences. Both Hindu and Muslim couples got married according to their respective rituals," said a Hindu bridegroom. The couples, most of them belonging poor families, were happy to on making a new start in the lives. "Such events should be organised more often, these help everyone, especially the needy, to save a lot of money which is usually spent on an Indian wedding, said a Muslim bride. "This couple belongs to very poor families. They cannot afford to spend money over weddings rituals and fest. Hence we have organised this mass wedding. Today 130 couples have tied knots with their partners, out of the total 80 are Muslims and the rest belong of different religions," said Gopal Yadav, the organiser.
