LUCKNOW/NOIDA (Delhi-NCR), Apr 14: Following violent protests by workers in Noida, the Uttar Pradesh Government on Tuesday announced an interim minimum wage hike of up to 21%, effective from April 1, 2026.

Unskilled workers in Noida and Ghaziabad will see monthly wages rise to Rs 13,690, with increases ranging from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 depending on skills.

Unskilled workers (Noida/Ghaziabad) wages increase from Rs 11,313 to Rs 13,690 monthly, semi-skilled workers (Noida/Ghaziabad) to Rs 15,059, skilled workers (Noida/Ghaziabad) to Rs 16,868.

Municipal areas are receiving a 15% increase, while other areas get a 9% increase.

The hikes were approved by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath following violent protests by factory workers.

Despite the hike, some worker unions demanded higher pay, leaving the situation tense.

The UP Government announced the temporary increase in the minimum wage pending recommendations of a wage board, which the Government plans to form next month. Temporarily, the Government has increased the minimum wage for unskilled workers throughout the State by as much as or up to 21%, effective from April 1.

Detailed wage breakdown (Monthly)

The specific wage rates depend on the worker's skill level and geographic location (Zone). The highest rates apply to the industrial hubs of Noida and Ghaziabad.

For unskilled wokers Rs 13,690 (up from ?11,313) in Noida & Ghaziabad (21% hike); Rs 13,006 in Municipal Areas (15% hike); Rs 12,356 in Rest of UP (9% Hike).

For semi-skilled Rs 15,059 (up from Rs 12,445); Rs 14,306; Rs 13,591.

For skilled Rs 16,868 (up from Rs 13,940); Rs 16,025; Rs 15,224.

For engineering factories employing 50+ workers, a separate notification sets slightly different rates, such as Rs 16,121 for skilled workers.
