Eating
Ghewar to shield from cold
Churu (Jaipur): For people in Churu district of Rajasthan, winters
mean battling with extremely cold weather conditions. They believe that
the best way to fight the cold is to eat succulent sweets - in short Ghewar.
Popular for its mouth-watering taste across Rajasthan, Ghewar is relished
by almost all who are visiting Churu during winters. Made in Desi-ghee
(pure clarified butter), it builds resistance power of the body against
cold. Available in wide varieties like Malai Ghewar, Paneer Ghewar and
Ghee Ghewar, it is sold around 40 to 50 rupees per kg. It is believed
this local sweet, which is now popular across India, especially in northern
States, fights cold. "We enjoy eating this sweet. This sweet is usually
prepared in the evening when the cold reaches its peak. We love to eat
hot Ghewars," says Shiv Ratan, a customer. "Ghewar provides warmth to
the body. It is also helpful in keeping oneself fit. The sweet has a very
special taste and we enjoy it in this chilling cold," feels Ramchandra,
a customer. As the temperature falls, the demand for Ghewar rises. |
