Dead fish deter visitors to Mumbai's Juhu beach
by Sushil Pareek

Mumbai: Visitors to Mumbai's popular Juhu Beach are finding it impossible to have their routine walk these days because a large number of dead fish have been floating towards the seashore probably because of the increased level of water pollution. Generally, small fishes are found near the seashore. But this is an unusual sight with dead fish floating to the seashore, causing foul smell. "This is unusual. I have seen lot of small fish. But this is something very unusual. Some big fish are bleeding also. It's definitely unusual," says Sanjeev Bhamre, a resident. The people are hopeful that the Govenment is taking steps to guard the seashore. "I am coming everyday, morning and evening. And I find the stink horrible. I wish someone cleans it," says Nandraj, another resident. Maharashtra Pollution Control Board authorities have recently visited the place to collect water samples and a few dead fish, which will sent to the forensic lab to find the cause.
