Delhi bomb blasts: US, UK advice against travel

New Delhi: In the wake of the last evening's serial blasts which killed around 65 people and injured nearly 200 at three different places - Sarojni Nagar, Paharganj and Govindpuri, the embassies of the US and the UK have urged its nationals in the Capital to "maintain a low profile", avoid frequent travelling across India, especially Jammu and Kashmir (except Ladakh), and particularly not to visit crowded market places in the metropolitan cities. The US embassy flashed a message on its site saying "the embassy urges American citizens to maintain a low profile and to avoid crowded markets and other public places in Delhi through the end of the Diwali holiday." The message also urged its citizens to keep themselves updated through the website and also keep in regular touch with the embassy through the website. Likewise, the UK embassy, through its website, advised the British nationals in New Delhi against travelling to or through areas of J and K (other than Ladakh), and all but essential travel by air to Srinagar. "There is a high level of conflict and terrorist violence in J and K (excluding Ladakh). Jammu city is somewhat safer, but attacks still occur.
