Fake currency flowing in from Dubai, Bangladesh: Mumbai police

Mumbai: Mumbai police on Saturday said that counterfeit currency was flowing into Mumbai from Dubai and Bangladesh. Speaking on the sidelines of laying the foundation stone of a Police Academy here, Mumbai's police commissioner D. Shivanandan said: "Much of the money (fake currency) is coming from Dubai or from Calcutta (Kolkata) from Bangladesh side. We are coordinating with the Calcutta (Kolkata) police on this." Several cases of fake currency notes being pumped into the country have been reported across the country. The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), earlier in the day, arrested a key operative of a fake currency racket and seized counterfeit notes with a face value of 2,807 dollars.
