throng Manali to evade summer heat by
Prem Manali:
Manali in Himachal Pradesh has become a hot spot amongst tourists as more
and more people are flocking the hill resort to escape the scorching summer heat
of the plains. Over the years, the hill resort has been witnessing increased tourist
inflow as summers get intense in the plains and tourists look for the cool surroundings
of Manali. The incoming of high-budget foreign tourists has also witnessed a surge
here due to the ideal weather and friendly environment. Apart from the foreign
tourists, Indian tourists from plains are heading towards this cool hilly town
to beat scorching summer heat. "Weather is fantastic especially for those coming
from plains," said Ashish, a tourist. With heavy flow of tourists, hotels in Manali
are jam-packed and even the small hotels. "At present, in Manali, it is the peak
season. Every hotel is almost packed. The tourist arrival statistics must be around
20 to 25 thousand a day. For the next two weeks, all the hotels are booked," said
Praveen, a hotelier. Sports like skiing, mountain biking, snow scooter riding,
paragliding and white water river rafting and other adventure sports are some
of the main attractions for the tourists. Tourism industry plays a vital role
in the economy of this hilly state. -June
