ENTRY FEE: ENTRY fee for national parks is Rs 10 for Indians and Rs 175 for foreigners. Road toll is Rs 150 per day per trip by car/jeep. Photography also attracts a fee. Fee for elephant ride per trip per person is Rs 100 for Indians and Rs 525 for foreigners, and for children half charge. (Fees may change from time to time)

CLIMATE: ASSAM has four main seasons - summer, monsoon, winter and spring. October to April is the ideal period to visit Assam.

DRESS: LIGHT woollen in winter, cotton in summer.

THINGS TO BUY: BAMBOO products like bags and furniture; sarees etc made of Assamese Muga (golden) and Pat (white) silk. A Muga silk sari costs Rs 8,500 to 10,000 while the white variety costs only Rs 4,000 to 6,000.
