Noida International Airport in Jewar begins commercial flights
ONCE-IN-A-LIFE-TIME: Farmers of Jewar whose land was acquired for the construction of the Noida International Airport getting a free ride on the inaugural Indigo flight to Lucknow on Monday as a goodwill gesture.
The first scheduled flight operated by IndiGo to Lucknow carried 170 farmers who had donated land for the airport.
GREATER NOIDA (Uttar Pradesh), Jun 15 (INS): The greenfield Noida International
Airport in Jewar in Greater Noida officially began commercial operations on
Monday, marking a historic milestone for the National Capital Region and western
Uttar Pradesh.
The operations began with the smooth landing of an IndiGo flight arriving from
Lucknow, followed by a celebratory return takeoff. In a gesture of appreciation,
the inaugural return flight carried farmers and villagers who had provided land
for the airport project. For about 170 farmers, including 20 women, it was a
lifetime experience.
The commencement of operations establishes Jewar as a vital component of a
dual-airport system alongside Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport,
aiming to significantly ease airspace congestion in northern India.
Developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL)—a special
purpose vehicle entirely owned by Zurich Airport International AG—the project
seamlessly integrates Swiss engineering with Indian hospitality.
Phase 1 features a formidable runway equipped with an advanced Instrument
Landing System (ILS) and state-of-the-art airfield lighting. This allows the
facility to support round-the-clock, all-weather operations and comfortably
handle massive wide-body aircraft like the Boeing 777 and Airbus A380.
The initial passenger terminal (T1) includes 10 active aerobridges alongside
an Automated Tray Retrieval System (ATRS) for high-efficiency baggage processing.
Projected investment Rs 30,000 cr
To establish itself as a primary logistical gateway, a specialized cargo terminal
developed by Air India SATS features an initial handling capacity of 250,000
metric tonnes per annum.
Financially backed by an overall projected investment of nearly Rs 30,000 cr,
Phase 1 alone was completed at a cost of roughly Rs 5,000 cr. Financiers and
industry experts anticipate that the airport will trigger unprecedented commercial
and real estate acceleration across the Yamuna Expressway corridor.
The airport layout natively integrates a Ground Transport Centre designed to
seamlessly interface with future extension links of the Delhi Metro and the
Namo Bharat rapid rail transit network.
While IndiGo anchored the first day of domestic flights to key routes including
Lucknow and Bengaluru, Akasa Air and Air India Express are slated to launch
their scheduled operations from the "DXN" hub immediately this week.
International routes and 24-hour schedules will phase in systematically as
domestic movement stabilizes.
The incident has triggered a debate on social media whether the officer refused to take orders from a party leader or he was accused of any corruption, some netizens justifying the handling in either case, that Ratnakar was blocking public welfare work! PROGNOSIS: It looks a Real New Trump is emerging - courageous, balanced, powerful and disinterested. Determined to save his country from the cliff, he has done quite a few draconian things that will reduce the burden of debts of the Federal entity, like the golden handshake, stopping senseless funding, pulling out of a worthless WHO. Shutting the Education Department is another. On the other hand, running it is also not the Centre's job either (We will convincingly elaborate it in the next chapter).
In India the scene is just the opposite. Centralisation is the core agenda and identity of the ruling dispensation without which it has no existence, or in other words, it exists for that set of schemes only. A realisation of this never dawned upon any Opposition party in 2014 or any time thereafter, what to talk of being able to see it coming 70 years ago! The consequence of all this violation of basic natural law of the universe we cannot predict.
