HYDERABAD, May 25: Milla Magee (24), Miss England 2024, withdrew from the ongoing
Miss World competition in Hyderabad citing "personal and ethical concerns,"

Magee had arrived in Hyderabad on May 7. She left the competition and returned to the UK on May 16, devastated.
The Telangana Government has instituted an inquiry which has started the investigation.
The three-member inquiry committee comprises of IPS officers Shikha Goel, Rema
Rajeshwari and DCP Sai Sree.
The Sun had quoted Magee saying that the contestants were allegedly made to
wear make-up 24x7 and asked to “socialise with middle-aged men”, the sponsors
of the event, as a gesture for their contributions for holding the pageant.
The organisers of the event have termed the charges “baseless and completely
fabricated”. Charlotte Grant, the Miss England runner-up, later took her place
in the global beauty competition.
Julia Morley, Chairman and CEO of Miss World Organisation, has said in a statement.
“Earlier this month, Milla Maggie requested to leave the competition due to
a reported family emergency involving her mother’s health. We responded to Milla’s
situation with compassion and immediately arranged her return to England, placing
the well-being of the contestant and her family first. Unfortunately, it has
come to our attention that certain UK media outlets have published false and
defamatory statements, allegedly made by Milla Maggie, regarding her experience
in India. These claims are completely unfounded and inconsistent with the reality
of her time with us.”
Following the revelation, a demand has been snowballing for a thorough investigation
of the incident and the reported allegations of Milla Magee.
The final event of the pageant of the year, being held in Hyderabad from May
7, would take place on May 31.
Miss World, an international beauty pageant, was started in London and is headquartered
there.

Originally from Junagadh, Gujarat, Pataudi was relocated to Etawah Lion Safari in September 2019 before being transferred to Gorakhpur Zoo in 2021. Recently it was receiving treatment for pancreatic and liver infections. After tigress Shakti died in the zoo on May 7 due to bird flu, Pataudi was shifted to Kanpur. Some birds are also reported to have died mysteriously around Gorakhpur. All zoos in UP are closed for fear of a bird flu outbreak.
Three other animals too had died - a tiger, a leopardess and a female wolf. Wolf Bhairavi died last Saturday, leopardess Mona died the Thursday before that and tiger Kesari died on March 30. Some of them had Shakti's symptoms but the cause of death has not been confirmed yet.

OPINION: A nutty 'new' Trump must know checking illegal immigration is his job and not theirs. And 'penalty' tariff is not a solution. However, Trump talking about "major threat" from "illegal aliens" (illegal immigration) is about what he believes, right or wrong, and to that extent he is genuine and honest; it is certainly not a pretension to prop up his political relevance. Bullies are always true to themselves. Look at India's crooked politicians shouting day in, day out to prove they are more patriotic, and to whip up public sentiments for them to ride on!
