AYODHYA, Jun 25 (INS): Eight suspects have been taken into custody or arrested
after a First Information Report (FIR) was officially registered on Thursday
in Ayodhya on the alleged embezzlement and theft of donations made to Ram temple.
The case follows a high-level investigation by a Special Investigation Team
(SIT) appointed by the Uttar Pradesh Government.
The FIR was lodged at the Kotwali Ramjanmabhoomi police station under sections
of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including theft, criminal breach of trust,
and criminal conspiracy.
The case was registered on the basis of a written complaint filed by Trust
member Krishnamohan. The FIR names Avinash Shukla, Anukalp Mishra, Lavkush Mishra,
Manish Kumar Yadav, Karunesh Pandey, Ramashankar Mishra, Subhash Srivastava
and Shri Ram Shankar Yadav alias Tinnu, and other unidentified accused.
The arrested include temple employees responsible for counting cash and an
aide to a senior trust official. Initial SIT reports flagged up to 17 people
under suspicion.

One of the arrested is a close aide of Champat Rai, general secretary of the
Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
Suspicion arose when low-salaried employees involved in the cash-counting room
reportedly amassed sudden, luxury assets and real estate. Subsequent reviews
of CCTV footage allegedly showed the physical embezzlement of offerings.
The exact scale remains a matter of ongoing assessment.
Initial political and local complaints alleged that between Rs 7 crore and
Rs 7.5 crore in donations and valuable offerings went missing from the donation
boxes.
Media reports and investigative leaks suggest that the broader probe into unaccounted
funds and gold/silver items could scale much higher, with some estimates citing
substantial amounts under audit.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's Government formed a three-member SIT on June
13, comprising senior administrative, police, and finance officials, which submitted
its preliminary findings just days before the FIR was filed.
Parallel to the police actions, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was moved
in the Supreme Court of India. The apex court has scheduled a hearing for June
29 regarding a plea that demands a time-bound, independent probe led by the
CBI.
The complaint that triggered the FIR was filed by a member of the Shri Ram
Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. While Opposition parties have accused the
trust of systemic management failures, trust officials maintain that regular
audits are conducted and they are cooperating fully with the legal actions to
clear any wrongdoing.
The incident has triggered a debate on social media whether the officer refused to take orders from a party leader or he was accused of any corruption, some netizens justifying the handling in either case, that Ratnakar was blocking public welfare work! It is true the Govt machinery has been the enemy Number One of the people of this country, existing for itself and for these politicians, for well over seven decades. India will never make an inch of progress - real progress, not make-believe-progress - unless and until this machinery is eliminated.

PROGNOSIS: It looks a Real New Trump is emerging - courageous, balanced, powerful and disinterested. Determined to save his country from the cliff, he has done quite a few draconian things that will reduce the burden of debts of the Federal entity, like the golden handshake, stopping senseless funding, pulling out of a worthless WHO. Shutting the Education Department is another. On the other hand, running it is also not the Centre's job either (We will convincingly elaborate it in the next chapter).
In India the scene is just the opposite. Centralisation is the core agenda and identity of the ruling dispensation without which it has no existence, or in other words, it exists for that set of schemes only. A realisation of this never dawned upon any Opposition party in 2014 or any time thereafter, what to talk of being able to see it coming 70 years ago! The consequence of all this violation of basic natural law of the universe we cannot predict.

The terminations are part of a large-scale exercise going on all across Fed departments and organisations to reduce wasteful Government expenditure as decided by a Trump in a mess gone berserk, and improve administrative efficiency following the whims of billionaire and his associate Elon MusK and his DOGE. It has not been shared how terminations are going to raise the efficiency bar! It looks like Trump has stolen some of the prescriptions meant for India. But the American problems are quite different.
