Prince Philip, 99, in hospital for 7 days, no word on his illness
Prince Philip of Britain, 99, is in King Edward VII's hospital in London. On Saturday his son Prince Charles visited him. He was in tears. Charles was the only member of the royal family who paid a visit.

LONDON, Feb 22: British Queen Elizabeth's husband Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, still continues to be in the hospital. He had been feeling unwell, according to Buckingham Palace, and was taken to hospital last Tuesday on the advice of his doctor.

Prince Philip was staying at Windsor Castle with the Queen, 94, even before Christmas, during the pandemic, away from the rest of the royal family. The prince consort will be 100 on next June 10.

He may have pre-existing conditions but the royals haven't told anybody why he's in hospital other than the fact that he was feeling ill for a few days.

When he saw the Palace doctor at Windsor, it was decided that he should go to hospital. "It was precautionary, it wasn't an emergency, he walked into the hospital," it was explained.

The 99-year-old is staying at King Edward VII's hospital in London. On Saturday his son Prince Charles visited the hospital. He was in tears. The Prince of Wales was the first member of the royal family to visit Prince Philip in the hospital. He travelled 160 km from his home in Gloucestershire.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson had said a couple of days after his admission that the Duke is "expected to remain in hospital for a few days of observation and rest".

“His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh was admitted to the King Edward VII Hospital in London, on Tuesday evening. The Duke’s admission is a precautionary measure, on the advice of His Royal Highness’ doctor, after feeling unwell," a statement had said.

Boris Johnson wished the royal consort well. “The PM sends his best wishes to the Duke of Edinburgh as he undergoes a few days of rest in hospital,” a 10 Downing Street spokesman said.

Both Prince Philip and the Queen had received their coronavirus vaccinations last month.
