The toys should showcase Indian aesthetics and thoughts to the
children and at the same time must integrate new technolgy in
their presentation, Modi said while inaugurating the India Toy Fair.
NEW DELHI, Feb 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called upon
the entrepreneurs of Indian toy industry to start making innovative
toys by integrating new technology with the country's wisdom and
heritage and capture a share in the global market.
Inaugurating one of a kind Indian Toy Fair 2021 via videoconferencing on Saturday,
the Prime Minister said the artisans should ensure that the materials used in
toy making are eco- friendly by harnessing reusable materials.
He suggested that the concepts of toy-making should be approximating life's
challenges and realities so that the children's all-round development is taken
care of.
Emphasising that the toys have an influencing role in showcasing Indian aesthetics
and thoughts to the kids, Modi said the toys should have an Indian perspective
as well and should reach the world market with a 'Handmade in India' motto.
The fair, he said, is another major step in building an 'AatmaNirbhar Bharat.'
Modi said the toys are a link to the country's age-old culture of sports and
games.
The Prime Minister said toys not only entertain, but also teach complex scientific
theories in a simplified manner. Lattu teaches gravity and balance, and Gullel
teaches potential and kinetic energy.
Modi urged the parents to play with their children and said toys do play a
vital role in developing the learning process of children.
The Prime Minister asked the toymakers from Channapatna Toy Clusters who have
been in the business for 200 years to try e- markets and newer ways to market
their products and take their products global.
The fair will continue till March 2. Over 1,000 exhibitioners are participating.
While inaugurating, Modi interacted with the toy- makers of Karnataka's Channapatna,
Varanasi and Jaipur. The fair will provide opportunities to discuss new designs,
generate innovative concepts and devise marketing ideas.
