Most patients were those staying home: Guv of New York, corona's epicentre

According to a study conducted at 100 hospitals, 66% of covid patients were those who stayed home and did not commute, claims Cuomos. "Much of this comes down to what you do to protect yourself," he washed his hands of widespread accusations of laxity in taking timely action.

NEW YORK, May 9: New York Governor Andrew Cuomos has said shocking evidence is coming that proves that among recent admissions in the city hospitals most patients were those staying home.

According to data collected, he told reporters, 66% of new patients were sheltering at home, they being retired or senior citizens or mostly not working, not commuting. They "were literally at home." Unlike the general perception, only 2% were homeless and 84% were not commuting like working people.

He defended himself against previous accusations of laxity and inaction when the infection was silently spreading, soon turning New York into an epicentre, where every day around 1,000 lives are lost!

The Governor was, in fact, placing the new finding against what he himself had said on April 13, "If you isolate, if you take precautions, your family won't get infected."

The new finding is that those who are travelling are not as much affected as those sheltering at home, statistically.

His conclusion was, "Much of this comes down to what you do to protect yourself." And said, the Government has done everything it could. Probably he meant the ball is in the citizen's court.

Data was collected from 1,000 patients in 100 hospitals in New York.

COMMENT: There could be some shortcomings in the hospital questionnaire.
