Coronavirus lockdown: What is allowed and what is not in Delhi

Buses and taxis will run with limited capacity, all Govt and pvt offices can be fully functional, all industrial and construction activities are allowed but no worker from outside to be engaged, barber shop, spa and salons will remain closed.

NEW DELHI, May 19: Following the extension of coronavirus lockdown to May 31 and the relaxations to the restrictions announced by the Central Government, the Delhi Government has listed out the activities that are allowed and not allowed in the State in accordance with the Central guidelines and considering the conditions in the State.

What was new in the Central guidelines was allowing in the red zones also even non-essential e-commerce deliveries, barber shop, spa, salons, cycle rickshaw, auto rickshaw, taxi and cab aggregators.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, saying that the number of cases of coronavirus in Delhi is on the rise, announced the Central guidelines tweaked for Delhi. He said barber shop, spa, salons will remain closed, a change from the Central position. Public transport like buses and auto rickshaws will be allowed to operate with conditions. The list is:-

  • Delhi Metro will remain suspended
  • Religious places of worship will not be allowed to open. Religious gatherings also shall not be allowed.
  • All schools, colleges, coaching and training institutes and all other educational institutes shall remain shut.
  • Carpooling or car-sharing will not be allowed for aggregators.
  • Taxi and cabs shall resume services but will not carry more than two passengers. Drivers must disinfect the vehicle before starting.
  • Gramin seva, phat-phat seva, RTV vehicles not to carry more than 11 passengers. Only five passengers allowed in Maxi cabs.
  • Not more than 50 guests at marriage functions Not more than 20 people at funerals
  • No outdoor movement allowed between 7 pm and 7 am except in emergency or for essential services.
  • Hotels, cinema halls, shopping malls, gymnasium, swimming pools, entertainment parks shall remain shut.
  • Barber shops, spas and salons to remain closed.
  • Theatres, cinema halls, bars, auditoriums, assembly halls shall remain shut.
  • Restaurants will remain shut but can operate kitchen for home delivery.
  • Social, political, sports, entertainment, academic, cultural, religious gatherings not allowed
  • Not more than one passenger will be allowed in auto-rickshaws, e-rickshaws and cycle-rickshaws.
  • On two-wheelers, no pillion rider is allowed.
  • No activity allowed in containment zones except for essential purposes.
  • Not more than 20 passengers at a time allowed in buses.
  • All Govt, pvt offices can be fully functional
  • All industrial and construction activities allowed but no worker from outside allowed.
  • All standalone shops, neighbourhood shops will continue to function. Markets can open but with some conditions.
  • Industrial units will open on staggered timings: Units with names starting with A to L will open from 7:30 am till 5:30 pm and those with M to Z from 8:30 p till 6:30 pm.
