Haryana seals borders with Delhi once more

Home Minister Anil Vij claims that people working in Delhi and living in Haryana are responsible for the increase in the covid cases in the State.

NEW DELHI, May 29: Haryana has sealed its borders with Delhi for a second time. First time the State Government barricaded the borders was about two weeks back and that ended with a Delhi High Court order that said essential services personnel like doctors, nurses, police etc should not be harassed at the borders. The Government had to give an undertaking that these personnel will be allowed entry.

Concerned over rise in the cases of coronavirus in areas bordering Delhi, Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij again ordered yesterday that the borders with the national Capital be "completely sealed" except for essential services. He was of the opinion that people working in Delhi and residing in Haryana are responsible for the increase in corona cases.

"The main reason behind the spike in cases is the entry of people from Delhi into areas of Haryana which share its border with Delhi. As per the records, in the last one week Faridabad reported 98 cases, Sonipat reported 27 and Gurugram reported 111 cases. Barring those categories for which relaxation has been granted by the High Court and the Union Home Ministry under lockdown 4.0, the inter-State border should be sealed," he added.
