Malls, restaurants, religious places are re-opening on Monday in most Indian States

Except for international flights, metros and educationl institutions, States were allowed to take their own decisions on lifting coronavirus restrictions wef June 8 by the Centre through its order issued on May 30 as the lockdown was ending the next day. Therefore, the Unlock Phase I begins.

NEW DELHI, June 8: Hotels, restaurants, malls, hospitality services and religious places re-open in the country on Monday as per the guidelines issued by the Centre on May 30 lifting in phases the countrywide coronavirus lockdown that was in force till May 31. The order said the lockdown was to continue in the containment zones till June 30. Relaxations were allowed in certain areas much earlier.

However, except for educational institutions, international flights, metro rails, cinemas etc, a decision on which will be taken later, the States and district administration were told then to take their own decisions on lifting or imposing restrictions depending on the local situation from June 8. Therefore, the States announced their own plans on Sunday as the Unlock Phase I begins on Monday.

Unrestricted movement of people in the country was allowed from June 1, except if any State decides otherwise. Goods movement had been allowed earlier.

Domestic flights had resumed on May 25 in advance and the trains started running normal service from June 1. Specials for stranded people and Shramik specials were exempted from restrictions much earlier.

The 'night curfew' hours was relaxed to 9 pm-5 pm in the new order.

States announce their 'Unlock' plans:

The States announced their plans on Sunday as the Unlock Phase I begins on Monday.

In Delhi, as malls, restaurants and religious places re-open, the Government said on Sunday that shopping has to be contactless and follow the preventive steps like social distancing. Masks are must for employees as well as customers. Malls should be sanitised on an hourly basis. Pregnant women, kids below 10 years of age and senior citizens above 65 years are not allowed in malls. Religious places should also follow the rules of sanitisation. There won't be distribution of prasad but langars are allowed with precautionary arrangements. Not more than 5-10 devotees should be allowed in. Rules of sanitation and social distancing must be followed in restaurants also.

In Haryana, malls, restaurants and religious places will open except in Gurugram and Faridabad. Restaurants can open from 9 am till 8 pm. The countrywide 'night curfew' starts at 9 pm. Hotels will have no buffets. They will work with reduced staff and capacity. No cinemas. No religious activities involving gatherings. No prasad or holy water to be given. There should be social distancing in food distribution. Banquet halls will be limited to 50 guests.

In Punjab, malls will issue tokens with limit on time allowed inside. There won't be dining in restaurants. No lifts. Entry to not more 20 devotees at a time in religious places. No prasad.

Uttar Pradesh: Hotels and restaurants will be open only from June 10 and malls from June 11 in Ghaziabad. Religious places will open on Monday but with restrictions.

In Karnataka, religious places open on Monday but no bells allowed. In Odisha, only home delivery by restaurants till June 30. In Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain, in Madhya Pradesh, entry is restricted by registration. It will open at 8 am and close at 6 pm.

In Mumbai, salons, parlours, restaurants, malls will open on Monday. There won't be trial rooms in the shops. Items cannot be returned or tried. In Mumbai Metropolitan Region there is no inter-district restriction on travel since last week. However, 4-wheelers and rickshaws can carry not more than two passengers.
