Students at exam centre sprayed with disinfectant

Little children coming to an exam hall in a Bhopal school were sprayed all wet with chemicals using a backpack sprayer to ward off coronavirus! Look at the contrast: In Hyderabad, Telangana Chief Minister KCR said Class X exam is not the be-all and end-all, the children's life is more precious. He scrapped the exam.

BHOPAL, June 10: The Class XII examinees at a centre of the Madhya Pradesh Board for Secondary Education (MPBSE), in a private school in Bhopal, the cultural and political capital of Madhya Pradesh, were asked to come an hour ahead of the scheduled time on Wednesday and were lined up and sprayed one by one with disinfectant chemicals till fully drenched before allowed to enter the examination hall. A measure the authorities adopted to ensure protection against a surging coronavirus epidemic!

The man who sprayed the chemicals with a backpack sprayer looked like the one usually seen in the paddy fields. And the chemical was no less harmful. It was sodium hypochlorite.

The helpless children later said "we were treated worse than animals." All wet and uncomfortable, feeling nauseating, they had to sit through the exam, they lamented their fate.

The school administrator reportedly said that a directive for such an action had come from the MPBSE on Whatsapp. He said the chemical was purchased from the local market.

The DEO said there was no such order and that action will be taken!

Elsewhere similar incidents had recently taken place involving migrant workers who were returning to their home-States after losing lobs in the aftermath of the coronavirus lockdown.
