Sahara shows the way - Not to lay off workers, to provide more jobs

The company has made a statement that although it is in a difficult situation like others following the coronavirus lockdown of economic activities, it is determined to protect the livelihood of its workers running into lakhs and even help more in these times of distress.

NEW DELHI: Sahara India has announced a pleasant news for its employees running into several lakhs to cheer about in the current phase of mounting unemployment and widespread economic hardships following the coronavirus lockdown.

A company statement categorically said it will not lay off any employee. Instead, it has promoted employees and is making large-scale appointments of office employees and field workers.

One cadre promotion has been given to 4,05,874 field workers and 4,808 office workers have been given salary raise. Sahara has 14 lakh workers in various sectors.

The fresh appointments will help in providing livelihood to a large section among the migrants who have returned to Uttar Pradesh, the company statement said.

However, it said Sahara is also affected by the shutdown of economic activities and is facing an unprecedented situation like others.

The Sahara India Pariwar statement said, "It has taken a strong decision of not laying off any of its worker from any of its business vertical due to the pandemic."

Besides, the company has also appealed to all the small and big organisations to give paramount importance to the livelihood of every employee working under them.

"Undoubtedly, it is a difficult phase for everyone, yet as the guardians of our employees it is the responsibility of us all to see that the families of workers don't go through any livelihood crisis. If we take care of them, it will be a great contribution of all our business organisations to the interest of humanity, society and nation at such a difficult time," it added.
