NEW DELHI, July 7: Pakistan's Health Minister Dr Zafar Mirza has said that he had tested positive for coronavirus. Last week, Pak Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had tested positive. He tweeted he was home quarantined.

"I have tested positive for Covid-19. Under med advice I have isolated myself at home & taking all precautions. I have mild symptoms. Please keep me in your kind prayers," tweeted Mirza.

Earlier, National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, PPP leader Saeed Ghani and Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid had contracted the infection and recovered.

Those leaders who died of coronavirus included former Balochistan Governor Syed Fazal Agha, PTI's Punjab lawmaker Shaheen Raza, Sindh Minister for Human Settlements Ghulam Murtaza Baloch, lawmaker Munir Khan Orakzai and PTI's Mian Jamshedud Din Kakakhel.

Coronavirus has claimed 4,762 lives in Pakistan till date. Meanwhile, 48 doctors resigned in Punjab province on Sunday citing inability of the Government to provide safety gear to protect them from the virus.

“The doctors in question have resigned after the Government’s failure to comply with their repeated requests to provide them protective gear against the deadly coronavirus and other inadequate facilities,” a doctor told reporters.
